Call Toyota & demand a Diesel!

Here is the # (800) 331 - 4331, option 3, option 1, option 5, & your in!
Tell them our desires to have as an option the new D4D diesel engines.

Just do a search on google.com type in "Toyota diesels" in the search engine & you will be amazed about thier recent un veilling of the 2.2 liter 175 HP w/ some crazy torque rating!

Check it out!!,

Espi

*depressed sigh*

175hp? Thats it??

They should be starting at 400hp and 800+tq in their trucks if they want to have ANY HOPE of competeing with the big 3 at all.....

the 05 powerjoke has 325hp and 570tq and I use it all, all the time.

GRNTACO 03-14-2005 06:56 AM

With the current diesel prices they can keep it................

I'd like to see something like a 3.0 Turbo Diesel with about 210HP and about 325 lb/ft torque.

Even with higher diesel prices it'd still be worth it in fuel economy and engine longetivity. I know these engines can run 200,000+ miles, but a diesel will do effortlessly.

Ganoid 03-14-2005 09:38 AM

I would pay 50 cents more per gallon of fuel to go twice as far.
I would also take my gas cans up to the farm station and fill them with off road diesel so I would pay $2 a gallon to go twice as far.

Bumpin' Yota 03-14-2005 12:27 PM

meant to add more to my post....

It's at least a start!!! But I still want a HINO in a 4runner...lol

Diesel rules! Once you have it, you won´t change it.

Babypig 03-14-2005 02:00 PM

Toyota's diesels are Hino's

Espi 03-25-2005 10:45 AM

hino

And Hino is owned by Toyota.

You would NEVER get that red dye out of your fuel system. Heavy heavy fines if they catch you doing that.

The new 3.0 D4D does exactly what you are asking for and even more!!

hmmm not much for competing with the VW taureg's v10 turbo diesel with over 600ftlbs of tq....

You can't compare it that way considering the Toyota 3.0 is a 4 cylinders turbo diesel and the cost too.

Actually I put up a thread last december for a group buy for a 1KZ-TE 3.0 diesel front clip with tranny. But the response wasn't too good, so I didn't do it since the shipping will be too high for just one or two unit. Most likely, I will import some into the country end of this year. Let me know if anyone is interested, and we can do a "group swap". :P I have driven one LC 70 with the same engine and it is fantastic, tons of power!! :)

speaking of the VW taureg...it is one of the worst rated cars in terms or reliabilty.

Tacotex 03-25-2005 11:20 PM

I like the idea...

...but the issue may be better addressed through petitioning our reps to change the laws that keep the small deisels banned by the import regs...

I can't believe it-in my country diesel is cheaper than petrol.
Be careful buying a diesel-maybe the reason Toyota is not selling new generation diesel engines in the states is that they are very sensitive, unlike the old diesel engines in which you could put vegetable oil.
There are many diesels in my country avalible ,even the D4D,but they demand very high Quality diesel(0%sulphur...),and if you put diesel that was perfectly fine for the older engines in them, they will get clogged completly-I've seen it happening to many ,many people .They start to lose power, smoke and you must completly tore down the engine and clean it-very expensive. These new common rail diesels are great performers-but they demand CLEAN fuel.

Yup...Naked lady mud flaps and a rebel flag. ROFL

All kidding aside a really sweet diesel would be fun to drive again. Haven't had one since my mercedes 300D.
