Exactly as above. Imagine how you drive a rental car and then ask yourself would I ever buy this car?

I agree with everyone else about how people drive rental cars. Though my mom bought a car about 10 years ago from a rental company and it is still running(she doesn't own it anymore, someone around her still drives it) and the only problem that she every had with it was the heater core went out.

What everyone else said, compounded by not knowing where the vehicle spent it miles.

Many ex-rental rigs on the West Coast were either Hawaii or Guam rentals = rust to pieces within 10 years. This year you also need to wonder about the 575,000 flood cars for sale. Good luck.

I've seen even the most proper and conservative drivers have fun in rental cars. I had a roommate in college who drove very timidly, right at the speed limit. In a rental, he repeatedly jammed the brake to the floor on the backroads from 50mph to "see how anti-lock brakes felt."

I wouldn't buy one, but hey, it's a Toyota.

I say no.
My 'rents bought a 97 GMC Jimmy for something like $12k (read: cheap) in late 97 with 30k miles. Biggest POS, EVER.

And it being a Ford doesn't seem like a major problem to you?

haha i hate to use blue collar comedy for a credible reference but...

"Buying a rental car is like marrying a prostitute.. do you really want to stick your key in something that THAT many people have driven THAT hard?"
