Bumpers

Maybe its just my rig but has anyone else had their rear bumper basically rot out from under them on their 2nd gen and whats the best replacement thanks:bang:

I just have a small rust spot that doesn't seem to be spreading that fast...hasn't turned into the orange cancer that I have seen on many other rigs.

Best replacement would be an aftermarket bumper of some type, ask some of the hardcore wheelers on here...I think that there are some nice Badlands bumpers out there but they are kinda high on the $$$ side of things...just wait for more knowledgeable ones to respond :hillbill:

Does anyone know of a cheap metal front bumper or the cheapest?

What's your idea of cheap? Non-Toyota replacement parts will likely be the cheapest, or you can search Ebay for used parts.

On the rear bumper rot, there is really nothing you can do for your existing one. If you have the issue I do, my side "bumperettes" are what is taking a beating. They catch all the debris kicked up by my tires then it just sits there, staying nice and moist.

You could get a new one, but you'll have the same problem again someday, plus if you wheel it, the rear bumper can't take a hit since it is thin metal that is attached to the body, not the frame.

I've custom designed bumpers and sliders for my rig that will be 'resistant' to the elements of the East coast. After I fabricate prototypes and give them a thorough testing, I plan to gear up to sell them. My timing is unknown at this point since my 'day' job keeps me working into the evening frequently. Due to the materials I plan to use, these won't be the cheapest models out there, but they will be great performers and will look great. Stay tuned...

Looking foward to it Mike,
