Building bumpers again.Heads up.

Hi Folks. Just to give you guys a heads up. I have started building bumpers again . Started a full machine and fabrication shop in Canada and my latest project is an all aluminum bumper for 98 to 2004 tacomas. These bumpers are all 3/16 aluminum with integral lights. Almost exactly the same as my old bumper with the lights and grills but all aluminum and very light. 07 tacomas are next.
I will have some photos in a few weeks and i may have a line to get the bumpers to the States Via Seattle Washington so hopefully shipping will be alot cheaper.
Heres a link to my old bumper.

That looks pretty sweet. Would they include the lights and what do you think the price will be like?

Mtriple 03-11-2007 03:09 AM

Wow, nice work. I would love to have something like that for my runner.

once again sweet bumpers

Make them steel and for 4runners!

BeachRNR 03-11-2007 06:25 AM

Yes PLEASE make the for 3rd gen runners.

nick-m 03-11-2007 07:27 AM

Holy smokes! I'd buy one in a heartbeat, as soon as I could muster up the cash, if you made them for the 4Runner.

If you could fit something else other then Hella 500s ( Hella 4000? ) ... or Hella Fogs where the landing lights are...and reinforce the grille that protects the lights ( I put it to REAL use ) , damn, fine bumper.

zedex 03-11-2007 09:13 AM

Hella 4000s are TOO big to fit in the bumper:hillbill: . The 500s are a squeeze as it is. And yes. Will be building them for 4 runners . I will still be making steel ones but for the small extra cost aluminum is the way to go. These things are 1/2 the weight and just as strong.
Unfortunately cost is up there but if you could appreciate the amount of work that goes into each and every bumper the cost is worth it. Each bumper is meticulously tig welded. No mig welding here. This bumper is not for the budget concious. $1500 CDN and no. This does not include a winch.:pop:

The bumper looks awesome!! Will the airbags still function with your bumpers?

i think this has been covered before and if I remember any aftermarket bumper will work as the 3rd gen 4runners and others(?) use a speed sensor that tracks sudden decrease in acceleration to trigger the air bags and not a crush sensor.

NICE BUMPERS! Any pics of painted bumpers?

zedex 03-20-2007 05:45 PM

Sorry. The only pic of painted is at the beginning of this thread.

zedex 03-21-2007 08:53 PM

Heres a pic of the finished product with lights, grills.

sweet!

so this may be a newb question, but if it is polished aluminum, will it have to be sealed or painted/clear coated to avoid rusting/staining. I dig the brushed look and it will work well with the silver.

zedex 03-22-2007 05:11 AM

Yup. Should be sealed with clear. Im going to look into that. Aluminum will oxidize in time which gives it a dull look. Less bling.

GorillaSalad 03-22-2007 10:23 PM

Nice.Very Nice. How do I get one 4 my runner?

NOTE: There is no impartiality in this comment.

You could have it LINE-X'd to protect it as well. :) Although, to be candid, I really like the brushed look as well.
