Break-in Last Night - Need Help Reinstalling Window
Some bastard tried to get into my Runner last night. The alarm scared him off, but he did pop out this window:
The window and rubber trim are intact. The only damage is to the sheet metal at the bottom of the wondow. The guy obviously knew how to get into 4runners. I have a $500 deductable I want to avoid and think I can fix this myself.
Anybody know the procedure for getting that window back into place? Looks like I will have to remove the door panel, but I would like to hear from the pros.

Hey Jay,
Bummer to see that man. I actually had that exact same thing happen to me my freshman year here at Clemson. Sucked big time, but in the end, it all turned out alright. Anyway, I wish you good luck man.

Thank gosh for alarms ... I fixed my window, but I would say just have a car window place come and do it, its not worth your time dealing with it
Also doesnt cost alot..

My brother's old galant was broken into 3 or 4 times, I forget exactly how many. Anyway, that exact same little corner window was broken into each time (once on one side then the other...). We just took it to our local mechanic and he would make some calls to the local savage yards that he knew and they would actually deliver the window to him in the same day and he would put it on for us. Just a suggestion. Good luck!

If that window is the same on 3rd and 2nd gen here is how. There is a screw under the rubber weather stripping at the top of the door. The other is behind the door panel at the bottom of the little window. If you remove those screws that vertical piece should come out. The big window has to be down. Once you take that piece out put the little window back into the bubber and reinstall the vertical piece.
I have had to remove my rear windows to get the glass back in the tracks (from my kids pulling on them). The first time took an hour. The second time 15 minutes. Its very easy to do once you've done it once.

Fixed it! Took me around 45 minutes. There are two bolts behind the door panel that have to be removed, in additon to the two small screws on top of the channel that are hidden by the weather stripping. Good thing I got it done today because it's gonna get cooooold tomorrow. No fear of break-ins for at least a few days. Hopefully we'll avoid the big spring rush of bandits too.
Just goin with the flow . . .
