Born Again Noob

It's been quite a while since i've been here. I sold my '01 4Runner about a year ago and kind of disappeared in the process. Well, i'm back. A couple months ago, I purchased a '91 Toyota Pickup. Here's a couple pics.

sweet truck..specs?

broknlgs24 08-19-2005 08:39 AM

3" body lift
4" suspension lift
35" BFG Mud Terrain
stock gearing, but w/ the V6 engine, i'm quite pleased w/ the amount of pick up.
when purchased, it had 119,200 miles on it.
some sort of hard tonneau cover (not sure of the manufacturer)

Much better than red X's thats a mean looking truck!

sweet...do you have factory 4.10s or 4.56s? If its 4.10s then I'm suprised you're happy with how it drives...I've got 4.10s 34s and a freshly rebuilt/upgraded V6 and I almost can't stand it, around town its fine and cruising its fine but 70 is as fast as it'll go period down hill tailwind etc. don't matter the speedo won't cross 70 (actually about 80) also the fuel economy kills me, like 13-15 mpg and I was gettin 20 prior to the bigger tires.

i'm not 100% sure about that one. if i get the speedo above 70, it's probably not for long. once i hit some sort of extended incline, i do downshift to 4th; however, w/ the speedo being off anyways, 70mph is plenty fast enough for me in this thing. if i truly want speed, that's what the other vehicle is for. i haven't checked the gas mileage yet. i keep forgetting to take note of my odometer when i fill up or anywhere in between.

anyone else notice, w/ being lifted this much, some uneasiness when hitting bridge joists? sometimes i feel as if i've all over the place after hitting some good one's?

Silver_Truck 08-19-2005 09:57 AM

oh well, thats even better if it works for you without having to regear :great: nice rig!

broknlgs24 08-19-2005 11:10 AM

what's the cost of re-gearing? what about my other question? ever experience any of that un-easiness hitting large bumps?

Silver_Truck 08-19-2005 12:16 PM

Depends, if you can find the gears already set up then you can usually get font and rear 3rds for about $500 with open diffs, locked ones are more. Otherwise you're looking at $400ish for gears and install kits shipped plus anywhere from $300 up for install depending on who does it. Are you talking about the metal things on the bridge deck that holds the concrete together? If so no I havne't experienced that, but then again I have 3" of lift and you have 7" so that could be the diff.

broknlgs24 08-19-2005 12:49 PM

cool thanks for the info.!
yes, i am talking about those metal things. i figured it might be because of the ride height. i just wasn't sure. i might throw some new shocks all the way around just to see.
