Body lift without bigger tires (look bad or not?)
I want to get a body lift so i can get bigger tires.
My thing is, i want to do it all slowly over time. If i were to get a couple inch body lift and not get the new wider wheels and tires just yet, would it look really bad with just the lift and my 265/75 r16 tires?
On a side note, what is the general rule for new tires size. Like right now, if i were to get a body lift, how much wider in tires could i go for every inch of body lift. How much taller could i go?

I think any truck lifted without bigger tires looks funny. What I did was, i got the lift and then stored it at my house. Then when I had enough money for the tires and wheels I got them and only had to ride around for a week with a body lift and little tires. Do it slow and do it right.
but oh well

I have 3 inch body lift with 31x10.5 tires. Looks alittle out of place but not bad. 35x12.5's will be here in 2 months with 4 inch sus lift. That should make it look better.

I ran a 2" BL w 265/75/16's for 6 months and it looked fine....it looked goofy when i added the Tundra/LC lift on top of that and still had 265/75's

I like your setup 
a 2 inch lift will be good with normal tires
here is 265/75 tires with 3.5 inchs out back and 2.5 in the front.
i do have new tires and wheels coming in but it looks good with these as well

yeah, i might go 2 inches, and not get much bigger tires. My main problem now, is the cost of wider wheels. I want to get wider wheels, but then i need new tires... so im looking at over $1000 total..... I still have to pay off the rig ($3200)

yeah i think your right... i am going to install my tranny cooler, and maybe a aftermarket muffler, but thats it
nice and cheap.... and the tranny cooler is needed
im 17, i need to pay it off asap
by the time i lift it, it will be a 12-13 year older truck with 200k miles on it

Just tell everybody those are your "street tires", and you have your off road tires at home.

Ok, well im looking at some 4crawler lift kits again. I don't know if i want to do the muffler or the lift kit. But anways
I am trying to decide on a 1" 1.5" or 2" body lift.
I just don't know the general rule, of what size tire i can go to with what size lift. What would i need for some 285/75 r16? Would a 1.5 do it? 2? or would i need even more than that? Way more than that? Im kinda clueless, and I can't find anything in a search

i have a suspension and 1" body lift to clear 295's, and i still have some trimming to do in the front.

well, i am wanting to put some wider tires on my 4runner. Thats why i want to lift. I want to see what i need to get some 285/75 r16's under there. So what would i need for that? I won't go any higher than a 2" body lift, but if that isn't enough for 285's what do i need? what combination would work? 2" bl with what suspension lift. What about maybe 285/70 instead of 285/75. Or is the rubbing problem with the width?
