Body lift fitted on Saturday (lots of pics)
Hey guys just wanted to post some pictures of my body lift installation that me and my brother in law fitted to my truck on Saturday. I went for a Performance Accessories 2" lift kit and was really pleased with how the whole job went. Heres the pictures ........

As it turned out the only problem we had was refitting the bumper and having to adapt a plate that the steering shaft went through because the plate they sent in the kit was obviously not meant for a UK 4 runner. But nothing an angle grinder and a little patience couldnt solve... The whole job took one complete day for 2 of us including having to cut the gear shifter and weld in a 2" extension. Im really pleased with how it looks and love the fact that when getting out of the truck I now "drop down" out of it rather than get out Cheers Luke PS I owe Colin (in the pictures) a massive thank you as without his help the kit would still be sitting there in my garage Cheers dude! Nice lookin lift... Looks like you might be able to fit 33's on there now. I think a bodylift is going to be my next mod (put in the edelbrocks and downey HD's a few weeks ago and now I'm ready to go higher). Was modification to the steering shaft necessary at 2" or do you think that could've been skipped? Were there any other issues when installing the lift?

The forum is awfully hard to keep up with these days :) It looks killer. I might try a 1" Roger Brown body lift one day if I can get someone to help me do it. |

Performance Accessories 2" kit for a 95 1/2 - 98 tacoma. Everything fits perfect except the front bumper brackets, but they're as easy to fab up as getting a square piece of steel and drilling four holes in them. Had to cut and extend the wires for the fuel tank, that was pretty easy, just flip up the drivers side rear seat and there is a cover allowing access to the wires. Had to cut my shift levers and get some 2" pieces (included with the kit) welded in. I don't know what's involved with an automatic. Installed complete kit by myself in about 6 hours, and I took my time.

I have a manual tranny too. do you have any pics of the install you can share? how about the fan shroud and radiator? I used to work for Baker Oil Tools and made many trips up to their test rig for my designs in Bossier City. Just thought I'd tell you that. |
Hmm I had the 2" extensions welded in the shift levers, no problems with clearance or hitting the console whatsoever. The kit comes with brackets to drop the raditor shroud 2", also several brackets for different cable clamps, etc.
I'm not actually from Bossier, I'm in the air force and am currently stationed here at Barksdale. If you're up for a drive this weekend there are several of us heading to Barnwell near Longview saturday, gonna be a good time. |
