Best method to clean mud out of front headlights

What is the best method to clean mud out of the front headlight housings?
(hole was deeper than I thought...)

Remove headlight assembly, take out the bulb, rinse with water till all the mud is out. Finally take a coat hanger or welding rod, tape a small piece of rag that will insert where the bulb goes and wipe the inside of the lense clean. Bend the rod to gain access.

Yeah thats what I had to do with my tacoma. I never could get it all completely out of the cracks though, i tried and tried and tried using alcohol and water, a rag and flat-head screwdriver. Good luck. you do have to pull the housing out though and re-install it.

Just take it out and blow it with compressed air after you clean it out.
