Hey guys,

I'm getting ready to install my Autometer oil pressure sending gauge (#2634). Its electric, so no oil line coming into the cabin.

Which location is best to install the supplied oil pressure sender? A1 or A2? A1 looks easier because its relatively straight line with the wheel well access "hole" (the same hole I use to remove the oil filter)



For reference, "S" is the stock oil pressure sender

Also, I read that these two little 8mm allen bolts are loctite'd. what's the best way to de-loctite it? hopefully not heat b/c i dont have a torch!

Bob those plugs are also british pipe threads, but you could get a 3/8 pipe(us) to work. i plumbed my bypass filter from port A2 on you pic

ok great. thanks for the info. that A2 one looks rusty. i read that both are a b###h to get out. maybe i'll try A1 since it doesnt look as rusted

Bob, I've also got mine on A2, this is on my Tacoma though...

A2 is where I have mine, also A1 is the oil pump so I would not tap into it. Good pic BTW, best I've seen of that area.

Thanks for the warning re A1. I thought that there were two plugs you could tap next to the oil sender unit. I guess I read incorrectly.

I agree about it being the best photo I've seen on a Toyota forum...

But I'm wondering (just for the record) - what's the problem with using A1 'cause it's on the oil pump? Erroneous readings? Failure risk? Bad karma?...

i believe if you take that plug out, it will be followed by a spring and a ball, thats most likely the pressure relief valve for the pump
