Belt squeal? which one to replace

Since it has been in the negative tempeture here, it seems like all these wierd noises pop up. I am getting a belt squeal but am having a hard time figuring out which belt it might be. Here is the issue, it will only squeal when I am driving and let off the gas, it will stop if I am accelerating, also it won't squeal if I am stopped or driving under 30mph. It will also stop if I drive the truck for about 30 minutes. Any idea's?

I'd worry less about which one it is and just replace all 3. The additional expense and hassle are very minimal to change a single belt vs. all of them. Chances are they're all the same age with the same amount of wear, and if one's going, then it's time to change them all.

yep...Do all three...your squeeling belt might be the one closest to the engine and the other two would have to come off anyway....

That would be the logical way to do it is to replace all three. What three belts are they, so when I go to parts store I know what to ask for?

I have a 02 4runner

go to kragens and give them the year, make, engine and i think a factory option are needed.. the cashier will then get them for you.
if he tries to sell you the expensive ones with nano technology or warp drives or something, just get the cheap ones.. belt technology has not changed much

my first time doing all 3 belts took me a little under an hour with 2 sets of hands

Air conditioning belt, power steering belt, and alternator belt.

Replaced the belts this weekend. Spent $30.00 for all three belts. Maybe it was just me but I had a hell of time trying to get to all the tension pulleys to loosen the belts. Oh-well hopefull I won't have to do this again.

Did it stop all the squeals? Belts are a wear-and-tear, routine maintenance item, not to mention the accessories they run, which can fail. Hopefully you won't, but if you keep the truck, you could be right back in there at some point, so don't write it off as "done forever."
