Backwindow problems......
Ok since like 3 yrs ago the tailgate key switch could only roll the rear window down, never up.
I was aways able to use the up front, center console switch, to roll up and down the rear window. Now that I have gotten back from a 6 day trip, the window refuses to roll down. No clicking or beeping. I checked the up front switch for normal operation and it works. (the rear window is obviously up - so when I press 'UP' on the switch I get a voltage drop, but I get none when I press 'DOWN'.) I'm left thinking either a bad down relay or wire disconnected somwhere to explain the window not even drawing any current when I try roll it down. But what about the tailgate switch that hasnt operated in 3yrs? Could that just be a faulty switch or a loose connection? |
It could be either problem.
I replaced my switch last year. The location of the switch makes it suseptible to crap getting in it. I think your keyswitch is probably bad also. These go bad over time. I replaced all my lockcores last summer also. These two things solved most of my problems. Knowing what your poor rig goes through with 157 Db, a loose connection is certainly a possiblity. |

Cebby - Thanks, well it's not the motor I just checked that.
So relay most likely and a dead keyswitch. Where can I get a new keyswitch for my truck that will match my current key? I have AAA if they can somehow help. 4Crawler - i already have your site on file. Did some searches and found it. Your wiring diagram is a true godsend. ;) |

How did you replace your lock cores? Do I need a locksmith to do this? Cost? Can i get the tailgate switch replaced to match my current key? :beaver: <---- Something i need more of - being single sucks. |
Don't give up on that center console rocker switch. If that isn't working, Your keyed back window switch won't work either. At least pull it out and check each set of contacts (if You haven't done that allready). I had a similar problem with my 4-Runner's rear window. I had to replace that switch.
Good luck, when You figure it out, let us know what it was!:D |

Good luck, when You figure it out, let us know what it was!:D Yeah I made another post on the subject. Rocker switch works and I got the window working again. I had to replace 2 of the relays on the circuit board in the back of my yota. Ill probably iron out the key switch only rolling the window down in a month or 2...lol |
Oh Yeah!...You were mentioning the "GDFPOS"....I saw that post - LOL -
