"AUTO" window modification
I read through a few old posts about possibly changing the switch so that my rear windows would go all the way up/down by simply pushing the button, like on the front 2. has anyone successfully changed out these switches or is it more of a hassle than its worth? also, is there a way to install a switch like this for the rear window? thanks for any input

Yeah it works i have done it, It is easier and quicker than trying to figure out what is wrong with the system. I have thought about and am going to put a switch at the rear. I just saw your signatue and you have a 2001, mine is on a 85 so it may be different it all depends on how the motor works but it can be done. mine is for the rear window only, but all my motors work the same. the hard part is finding a switch to do what you want it to. the right poles and momentary etc.

so you simply changed out the switches?

pretty simple to what?...make it roll up with the remote?

Almost anything that you may want your windows to do is possible but vitually none are simple or inexpensive. All 5 of my windows have touch up as well as touch down, all up on arming of alarm, all down with disarming of alarm if desired, venting of about 1" after arming if desired, closing of sunroof if desired with alarm remote. But my sunroof still closes halfway, I guess it doesn't bother me since my finger is already there but I'm sure that can be bypassed also. I have a "96

he has an extramodule to control the 4windows adn another modeul to contrl the sunroof. the sunroof modules on toyotas are obsolete cause it closes halfway. you can basically use any alarm unit, such as viper, clifford, prestige, buthe main part is the DEI 530t for windows. the best setup id believe is viper 791xv w/ 530t, controlling all 5 windows. |
psssssssst... this is what he's referring to:

I'm not trying to sell anybody on anything in particular I was just letting people know that it is possible to do these things if they really want. I have a Clifford AvantguardIII alarm with 3 Clifford Smart windows modules (1 for each pair of windows plus 1 for the hatch) and the sunroof closes with a timer module that is activated by a seperate seperate channel on the remote. As far as the sunroof only closing half way, that is due to the factory switching, since the module only drives the motor directly, it bypasses the factory switching. However there is a "stop signal" wire in the factory wiring that must be tapped into also or once the sunroof finishes closing it will continue in its forward path which is the vented position. Thats about all I know. My entire alarm system has been in since I bought my 4Runner in '96, so I'm sure that the models are outdated and current equivalants must be researched. Steve
