Anyone else have their stock cd player die?

this is the SECOND time it has happened. the first time, I got it replaced free under warranty, but I'm not covered anymore.

Both times it was the same thing, worked fine before work, then when I came back the cd player wouldn't read. This time, it started playing a song, then cut out. anyone else have this problem? It is SUPER frustrating, as I HATE to listen to the radio. :dunno:

mine would just skip REALLY easily, especially after id been driving around a while and had the cd player on. it would get hot and stop working right.

just switch to a new head unit, youll get better sound and performance.

yeah but if I drop $ into the rig, I would like it to be for offroad mods! nuts I guess I have to visit crutchfield.

no you dont.

i got a head unit that originally went for almost 400 bucks for a smidge under 200 at tweeter. you just have to look for discontinued / low stock items that theyre trying to get rid of.

or try ebay / craigslist.org.

cructhfield is by far the worst deal. discountjungle.com i think it is, is another cheap resource.

I get a crutchfield catalog to look at the latest things out there. Good for info purposes but I would never buy from them. You can get better deals locally!

The stock disc changer in my runner started to eat all the cds, so i took it out and replaced it with a 60 dollar used cd player from my friend that works great. :bigok:

Nothing new to add, just a nother vote for ditching stock. Easy to DIY. Hella cheaper than fixing or replacing with stock.

My stock CD/cass/radio would stop working when it was cold and wet then come back to life for a while before it died permanently.

Here's an article on how to fix your cd player.

Mine was having a skipping problem as of lately. I'll try to fix it this weekend.

If you wanna get an LCD screen check out mp3car.com I used that as a guide to put one in my car. Its sweet, I got a 80 hard drive with all the music I can handle, GPS on it, and DVD player and much more
