Abs?

hi guys, im looking for a 2nd gen 4runner and i was wondering is there anyway to check if it has antilock brakes? like a sticker somewhere or something? -thanks

I think all 2nd gen 4runners have rear abs and the newer ones like 92-95 have front and rear. Not positive on that though.

No, ABS was actually an option even in the very early years of 3rd generation rigs, but you almost never see them without ABS. I think they weren't "standard" until 97 or 98.

Anyway, I'm not sure how to tell. I looked at a 95 and it did not have ABS. I don't know how you could tell. If the owner does not know one way or the other (which is highly possible) you can always call Toyota's 800# with the VIN number and they could look it up for you.

Turn the key to "on". ABS light should come on.

(Right now, you're all doing this :pat: , aren't you. :P )

Also, if it has rear abs only, then there is a sensor that plugs into the top of the 3rd member. If it has 4 wheel abs, then there will be sensors pluged into the brake area.
