I have had ongoing issues with my AC system. My problem started with the clicking from under the dash, so I replaced the AC actuator. But the same thing happened with a different actuator. Then I noticed that the cable that comes from the heat control valve that attaches right next to the actuator was really hard to move. So I tried lubing that up and but it didn't make any difference. I have now put on a new cable hoping that the problem was that maybe the old one was just rusty but its the same thing. Its as if the motor doesn't have the power to pull the cable back and forth....but it seems really stiff. Is there a trick to installing that cable? I have put the new one in the same spot and everything went back in the same way but this one is just a stiff to move by hand as the old cable.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

It could be the motor actuator that has gone kaput and needs replacement. you can check if it's the one if you try to activate it at the same have your ear near the actuator. it's mostly the plastic gears inside the motor. try sourcing it from somebody doing a part-out as it's expensive if bought brand new from a Toyota. The part number is indicated in the motor cover.

Are you sure your not having issues with the auto climate control, they do have a 99% failure, but usually it is button issues or non functioning.
