96-98 front bumper on a 99-02

Has anyone done this? I like the look of the 96-98 bumper with the PP front lip. I think the fenders between the two 4Runners are different but we'll see how it all lines up. Thanks for any help.

Alright, so you are saying you want to put a 96-98 bumper on the front of your 99-02..right? That isn't what the title of your thread says.

Also, I doubt the front fenders are any different between the years. I would be surprised if they were.

You get what I'm saying though. I just figured that more people would want to updated their rig. The fenders do have a different part# but the corner lights fit the same. I ordered the bumper so we'll find out in the next couple of days.

Thanks,
John

I think we have the same taste John. When I read the thread I was like oh no... I like the way the 98 bumper looks better than the 99-02s. It stick out too far for me, and the post 99 fogs look better IMHO. I'm not a fan of projectors when it comes to fogs. This will be interesting to see! Are you going to paint to match like the sport edition bumers? Seeing as you will be painting the lower half (the PP lip) you might as well get the whole thing painted. It would look bad (a$$) all blacked out! Just a thought... oh yeah... you might want to check out the twin turbo entenol buring 720+hp 4Runner... I'll dig up the site for you. Something you might be interested in... and don't get the TRD supercharger if you can't help it. Get an aftermarket one... (i'm just assuming your going to S/C it...)

The bumper and valance will be painted black just like mine is now. I already have the TRD supercharger and it kicks. 50 HP & 53 TQ to the tires.

There will be some welding that has to be done to do it...

It is, however, my favorite setup.

I've been thinking the opposite.
I like the new style (99-02) bumper, and want that on my 98.

Hmmm . . . Im thinking a possible trade. . . anyone?

But yeah, post when you install the other bumper on what mods have to be made.

Jason B. do tell about the welding. I got the mig in my hand waiting on you.
