98 4Runner Battery Cables

I was getting the 1-click no start issue on my runner, so I replaced the starter contacts and the battery. I thought I might as well replace the cables while I was at it. The dealership gave me part number 8212235450 @ $269.86!!

Needless to say, almost $300 for cables is simultaneously hilarious and unacceptable. Does anyone have a source for the cables that would be cheaper?

Thanks in advance.

Most autoparts stores carry them.

What? That might be the largest ass raping I have heard from a stealership. It's not dollar for dollar but for a largest mark up I have ever heard I think this might take the cake. It'd be like a $12-20 part from a parts store.

Well, the OEM cables are technically super-duper cables, which cost more, because they uh... are super-duper.

Also, did you ask if that price included the can of vaseline? Or is that seperate?

I hope some girl in a skirt offered to blow you or something for that much. Haha. Still to expencive.

Instead it sounds like some fat, hairy guy, sorry to any of you on this board, wanted to stick it to you using only sand for lube.

I used welding cable when I redid my battery cables. It's cheaper and FAR more durable the the overpriced garbage car audio stuff.

I think I used 0AWG for the starter to battery, 2AWG for the alternator to battery and 4AWG for the fuse box to battery. With the terminals and cable, I think I spent $50 total and had a bunch left over.

Car audio isn't too badly priced. I go to one of the places here in town and buy it by the foot. I haven't priced welding wire though.
