97 4runner need replace cd player
Hello everyone. Been a proud Toyota truck drive since 98. My 97 4runner's cd player which is the 3 disk changer version now is defunct. It has an error code on the LCD which I cannot remember at the moment e-o2 or e-05. I'm looking on ebay for a replacement and I was wondering what model of Toyota stereos would be compatible with my 97 4runner's wiring and all that good stuff? Say would a 2000 model 97 4runner's cd/stereo work in my 97 4runner by just connecting the plugs?
Thanks for any insight I can get on this. Ridding around with no tunes is awful. |
welcome to yotatech ...yep plug and play for the 2000 why not just buy a nice cd player instead of a factory one ?

2002.
Be sure they have the amp, as the acmp for the 97 is wired differently from the 02. Still plug and play, but internally its different. |

eek toyota sound systems and cd players suck.... get an ECLIPSE.. if it gets stolen it gets replaced plus if its ever unplugged from the dash it will never work again until you use a coded CD of your choice.. plus it uses multiple lasers instead of just one or two.. i rear ended a guy on the highway and it never skipped haha.. the only time i got it skip was when i flipped my jeep over into a creek. after it skipped and i was lyin upside down, lynard skynard was still jammin hard hahaha.....

You could try a Scion headunit. With a little trimming, it is plug and play. Just stay away from the 6 disc changer.
