94 extr cab 22re 5 speed....into a 2.9 v6??

94 extr cab 22re 5 speed....into a 2.9 v6??

Looking to increase torque some how... I guess that is funny by itself because of the 22re motor great little motor can't kill them but can't tow with them either or put bigger tires... I have won in an auction a 91 turck with a 2.9 liter v6.. How hard would it be to pull the whole motor tranny mounts and all and pop into the 4 cy truck? I bought the truck though auction down in S.C. for 100 and 400 for shipping it was a roll over with 170k on it...
I am hoping motor mounts and all will fit right up to thr frame and them tranny right up to the transfer case? I hope anyways.. Can any one help me out hwere with some info...

you may have smog issues if the motor from the donor is older than the recipient.

..and to answer the original question..no. Pretty much nothing swaps over without a lot of work. The motor mounts are different, the trans and transfercase are not interchangeable, wiring and exhaust are all different and so on. I believe you might even have to swap gas tanks or atleast sending units.
If you want ponies, search here and other sites for the 7mge swap (slightly easier when going into one that had a 4cyl), 4.3 Chevy liter swap, or investigate the difficulties of doing a 3.4 Toyota swap. I'm not sure anybody has a kit yet for putting a 3.4 into a hole where a 4cyl used to be. Somebody must have done it before though.
Both trucks 4x4s? If so, I'd say take the rear axle and front pumpkin then sell the rest of the other truck for parts/scrap and try to recoup your $. To me, it would be a bunch of work to wind up with a '94 with a 170k motor in it.

I think you posted this exact same question word for word over on Toyotaoffroad.com. The Supra motor would probably be the best and easiest swap. It lasts forever, is reliable, and makes gobs of power. Like I said on the other board, doing all that fab work for a 3.0 just isn't worth it...

I think after hearing all this I will go with the re-gearing methos first and see how that goes.. What size gears should I go with? I have a stock truck with 31" tires???

that info doesnt help at all without knowing what your stock gear ratio is... not all stock vehicles had the same gear ratio... i hate to say it, but the 22re is quite addequate... if you are looking for that much more power, sell your truck and get something with a larger engine... i highly doubt with a gearing change you will be happy

Only the rear differential is different. The front IFS pumpkin is the same, whether it is from a V6 truck or a 4 cylinder truck.
