i just picked up a modified 22re from an 83 celica, its the complete motor with all accesories and fuel injection and flywheel and pressure plate, i have an 87 4runer and i think there is an 85 22re in mine now because there is no knock sensor on my motor now, just wanted to know if everything will just bolt right in, what i found out so far is that ill have to move the motor mounts that are bolted to the motor back and there may be a problem with the power steering bracket matching up, any help on this would be apprectiated, thanks

everything will bolt in except for a couple things. First off, they use completely different computers so make sure you got the wiring harness and the computer. Secondly, they use a different alternator. The later model uses a stronger alternator so i would use it but you will have to unbolt the mounting bracket off your old engine block and bolt it to the new one. The rest of the stuff should be pretty straight forward.

just use the long block and possibly the celica exhaust manifold(different shaped ports from yours). use your distributor, the celica dizzy has an advance and isn't digital like yours

Thats what was done to my 85. They used the block and head out of an 84 celica efi but used my intake manifold and dist. so that they used the same wiring harness and computer. It works alright but it was kind of a redneck job putting it all together.
