5vz timing advance at idle

Guys I was wondering if anyone has looked at their timing advance during idle? Mine varies from 9BTDC up to 13 deg and it looks like it is cycling up and down with the input from my short term fuel trims. My question is if this is normal to have it up and down this much. I don't think I have ever had a vehicle with this much slop on the advance at idle.I am S/C'd but I had the problem (maybe a problem?) before installing. I coudn't find anything in the search threads. Also, my rpms hover at 700 up to 775 or so. Seems ok to me.

I never hooked a 5vz-fe up to a timing light since it's controlled by the ECU.

The FSM timing spec is: Idling BTDC 12.5 - 22° on Cylinder No. 1

Idling spec is 70 +/- 50rpm

Unless you have shorted the two terminals as per the above, the wide variation is normal. Mine does the same thing.

Thanks guys - Sounds normal then. That is good. Thanks for the help guys. Now if i could figure out my backfire issue when changing gears I would be set. Thanks again!
