50 state emissions / CA cat - ?

I live in Washington state and purchased my 2001 4Runner new. I bought it out of state in Redding California. At the time my understanding from dealers and Toyota Corp. was that there was no difference in these vehicles sold between states.
My factory manual shows a different front CAT Converter for mine - California. I'm just wondering if regardless of the 50 State emission stickers etc. my truck is more heavily de-smogged ? I don't see an ex.mainfold or O2 sensor difference.
Thoughts anyone ?
thx

If it calls for a California Cat then there probably is some difference. Im sure the part numbers are not the same as all other cat's for this rig. California does have the most air laws, and are strict about them hence performace parts having to obtain a C.A.R.B. (California Air Resources Board) Exempt sticker to be used on road.

Yes, you are right, from 2001 and on the 4Runners were 50 state compliant (meaning there was no special CA smog equipped version after the 2000 model year). Your cats should be interchangeable with one sold in any state in the US if made between 2001-2002.

Neat.

thx

Thanks for the replys. Given the 50 state reg's why would there be any difference in the CAT Converters ? I'll repost with a pic and poll other 2001 owners to compare.
Or if anyone with a non California 2001 4Runner just happens to have a pic of their front Cat Conv. to post ?
thx
