4Runner Junkyards

Anyone know of any junkyards that have any 96-02 4Runners or Tacos. Here is the deal. Toyota wants $60.00 for the diff lock switch on the dash. I found a junkyard here, but no switches in the 4Runners that they had. He said they had all been taken. The guy woulda sold it to me for $10.00. If anyone knows of any junkyards let me know please......:hillbill:

I've never used them nor do I live anywhere near them. But, with all the negative press that I read about on this board, 4x4wire.com & the Pirates board, I'd avoid them like the plague. It seem they are potentially more trouble then they are worth. Try searching here for Tap Recycling and you'll get a screen full of negative endorsement.

Best of Luck
Andrew

Give Yotayard your business. Hopefully TAP won't get any money from the people on this board again.

Sorry guys...for posting the link to TAP recycling.......next time I will know better. :(

Salvage Auto Supply (Big Selection of Toyota Parts) 122 Atando Ave Charlotte NC (704)333 1007.

Got a steering rack from them for $120, give them a shot. Eventhough I'll probably be going to them when I need one :nopity:

Good luck!

The only problem I have with Jim@YotaYard is that he's a wheeler. As such, he knows what parts wheelers break and charges a premium for those. Other than that, he is a good guy to deal with. He's had everyhting I've needed whenever I've gone up there.

I would price yotayard then everywhere else, they are a bit steep from the prices I've gotten. Did you try Jay Mark's Toyota? Their prices are pretty good compared to the local stealerships around here.

try www.car-part.com i checked ther and found an elocker 3rd locally for about 500, with 4.56. i dunno if i am gonna get it yet or not. he didnt have all the part to make it work though, he said he too was missing the switch.

Try Central Foreign Auto Parts here in Denver as well, they always seem to have 2-3 rolled 3rd gen. 4Runners in stock. Problem with YotaYard is that he's mostly 1st & 2nd Gen Runners as 3rd gens are still worth so much that they are hard to total out & buy at auction.

Thanks for the help guys. I fixed the locker last night. It appeared to be an issue with the locker motor. She's all fixed and ready to ride once again!

data 02-23-2004 08:12 PM

Well it crapped out on me again. Locker = not working again. I strongly believe it lies in the locker motor itself b\c I get power back there just fine. Grrrrr......wonder if this thing would be covered under my extended warranty ;)

Mallrat 02-24-2004 10:46 AM

i think most stealerships would just look at you, then look at your truck, and GRIN REALLY BIG :chair: :nono:

Actually they've fixed a couple of cv's under warranty and a few other items. :D They weren't concerned with the lift :)

You sure its not your wiring in the cab somewhere, like the floorboard area???

data 02-24-2004 12:59 PM

I can take a volt meter to the rear where the e-locker is and I get power back there. Usually I can hit the button and I will hear the e-locker engage. Now I hear nada... :dunno:
