I have a 3rd gen 4x4 runner with these (post #56 https://www.yotatech.com/forums/show...ht=wheels+pics) wheels and bridgestone dueler h/l's. I have searched this topic for a while now and the consensus seems to be that it is due to improper balancing. These are my questions...

1. Have these wheels been known to be the culprit, or was it the other 4runner wheels?
2. I just got this runner used and the tire pressures were all different, could it be that the tires are just worn now causing the vibration? (I am hoping this is the case as I have been looking for an excuse to get a more aggressive tire)

I am asking these questions because I like these rims and do not want aftermarket ones. I did have them balanced by a shop which was listed on the website listing shops with the hunter balancing machine, but no one here has/knows what the haweka adapter is. The vibration did subside very little after the balancing, but it's still annoying. As always, any help is greatly appreciated!

If you want an excuse--its the tires. Previous owner messed them up-go buy new ones. enjoy yourself.

No, but seriously. I would say its the tires. As far as the bridgestones specifically, i haven't owned them, but i have heard various reviews. Some likes, some dislikes.

I had them same problem on a 4runner and it did turn out to be the tires. Buying a used car has tons of available problems. What i did for the vibration is go out and buy new tires, them get an alignment. The problem immediately went away. Although my problem was easily detectable as you could see uneven wear and all my pressure was the same (at least once i owned it)

I'm just hoping that I don't have the same problem as some of you where you could only balance them with the haweka.

Well, honestly, the Haweka is the only way to do it.



I had the exact same issue when I got my new tires on. Had it re-balanced with the Haweka, and now perfect.

This is mandatory for ALL Toyota dealers. Every dealer has had them sent to them. They have them, but either misplaced it, or it's in a drawer somewhere.

Print out my document and show it to the Service Manager.

My '99 steering wheel vibrates a little, although it's better since the wife took it to Discount Tire. I kinda assumed it was a number of things...not being balanced faithfully by the previous owner, larger tires needing more care, et cetera. I was really interested in the "Equal" thread until it became a flame war. I may try to find some around here.
