Help me guys, I cant stand it any longer.
Bought a 97 2wd for the daughter. It sits sooo low. Well, compared to my 96 4runner ltd it does. I put on the ome lift to get just at 3" lift. I did the add on several years ago, so I'm a little rusty on the whole job.

So I want to do a mild lift on the 97. Two inch max.
It has 6 bolt lugs (for whatever that means).

I am so tempted to put on my 96 coils. They have at least 1 additional coil over the 97.
Am I crazy?
I have been trying to find some used 99 coils for cheap, but no luck so far.

So how about it? Anyone do a lift on this dd type rig?

Does she want it lifted or do you? Does it even see dirt? No sense lifting if you're not going to use it.

Hmmm, did sound like this what dad wants, but the daughter really wants it lifted some. It will look really "cool".

It is a dd, no dirt expected. Maybe the slight lift will improve the some what stiff ride.

So not really wanting to put a lot of money in it. From what I researched spacers can make the ride stiffer.

So a coil replacement with stock shocks (less then 80k on the vehicle) seems like the best plan.

But is it?

spacer would be the cheapest but like you said it makes the stiffness problem worse. since it is going to be on the road all of the time you can just buy the ome3-run coil kit from toytec. the whole set can be used while still keeping oem front/rear shocks

Has anyone put on a 99 coil set on the 96-98 2wd and 4 cylinder 4runners?

Just wondering what amount of lift it gave, as a reference.

Why not just go for a set of PP springs. There fairly cheap and should give you the lift your looking for. I know they were on back order for a while, not too sure about now.

your best bet for shocks would be ebay. KYB Monomax and Tokico shocks are a little over $200. You'll also need to do a lot of searching to find a shop to do the install for a reasonable price. I finally found a shop that charged $250. Good luck

i put 99 springs on my 2wd runner and netted a 1-1.5in lift. you could do the 1.5 spacer lift, it wont stiffen the ride any cause theres no spring pac spacer in the kit, just a top out spacer for the front and rear.
