Have to make this quick I just got back home from college and we're headed out to dinner but I just got the new shoes on so I'm sharing some pictures with you. I'll hop back on later to discuss and whatnot. Bottom line: these tires ROCK!

looks nice

frodin1 05-25-2007 05:15 PM

Looks good! So what's the deal with the OME's, did you end up getting the LC's?Or are you still looking?

84RNR 05-25-2007 05:18 PM

In the 1st pic (with older/smaller tires) your truck looks as tall, if not taller than that Excursion. That's with only a 3" OME lift? Nice!

QSVeilside 05-25-2007 05:49 PM

They look great, and I'm sure these are awesome for offroad purposes.

There's only one concern with these tires... They weigh a TON: 57 lbs each. Which is 20 lbs extra per tire compared with the stock 265/70/16's. www.tirerack.com specs.

Just a heads up for those of you concerned with acceleration, braking, and gas mileage - due to the record prices at the pump these days.... Increasing rotational mass by 20 lbs per wheel is the equivalent of adding 640 lbs of total weight to your truck.

Don't get me wrong, I think your truck looks awesome! Just giving folks a fair assessment.

That looks perfect with your set up.

That said, what's with the gray sides? Is it a bondo job? I'd paint it black or rhino line it.

MillerPKA 05-25-2007 06:44 PM

the gray sides is a base coat of what's to come next week. all the gray started out as herculiner, then poly coated that base color. next week i'm either going darker tan or graphite, i haven't decided yet.

and no, the ome rear coils are still on my truck. i need the lc coils first so i can swap them out, that's the problem

and thanks for the mpg info man, definitely taking that into consideration

I believe it's already rhino lined and was just recently painted grey. Trucks coming along great. I'm struggling to get my lift together.

That MPG post got me thinking about whether I should go with the 275s or keep the stock 265s.

You have a mean looking truck, I hope you finish the grey to a much darker shade.

misterzee 05-25-2007 09:34 PM

Indeed, seems like BFG A/T KOs are about the best tire for the money!!
but why... did you hide the raised white letters?? they look great!!
of course, we'd all be better off to just put the size back on that's on the factory door-jam sticker... but who want's their truck to look like the advertisement in National Geographic!?

MillerPKA 05-25-2007 09:57 PM

i made a thread/poll about the white lettering and it eventually came down to me. i was seriously debating it all the way up to him holding the tire and asking me which way and finally i just caved in and said black. and plus the fact that the factory blue goo was on the white lettering at the time didn't help persuade haha

i should almost create another poll on deciding which color to do my rear bumper, rocker panels. i figure graphite/charcoal or a darker shade of tan would be best suited. any other opinions?

and, concerning the tires: these are wonderful, anyone who says these are an uneasy ride is mistaken. Beautiful all around, its like my camera phone and bfgs were made for eachother haha. seriously though, love the way it sits and rides. absolute 100% so far.

Texas_Ace 05-25-2007 10:28 PM

On your truck the all black tires look good as it gose with everything else. I would have had a hard time deciding as well.

Love the new look!

From the pictures it looks as though your truck is black. IMHO, full black would look menacing with your front bumper and wheels.

Speaking of wheels... I noticed you have some black steelies. If you're at all interested, here's an easy way to lose some of the rotational mass your truck just gained - Go with aluminum wheels.

Two affordable choices weigh in at 16 to 17 lbs/wheel. Stock year 2000 16" five spoke/star wheels weigh 22.5lbs/wheel. Steelies tip the scale at around 35 to 40 lbs depending on brand/model. Which means that going with either of the following will probably negate most of the weight your truck recently gained over your previous setup.

Rota Grid:

Centerline Ultra Series:

Just some suggestions from a 2wd featherweight. Once again, your truck looks VICIOUS. I would not want to get into a collision with that beast! :eeek:

MillerPKA 05-26-2007 04:50 AM

i'd love to have the limited 5 spokes. i asked blake about his ivan stewarts but i didn't know he traded ric to get his 5 spokes haha. i don't know if the 5 spoke can handle the 285/75. and plus as much as i hear about people having multiple sets i just can't seem to find them for a reasonable price. i'd really like the lc wheels actually

CTRJ 05-26-2007 05:48 AM

Any of the stock Toyota wheels can handle a 285. You'll get a bit of rubbing at full lock, but that is livable.

Texas_Ace 05-26-2007 06:10 AM

See i have the limited wheels and i am looking for some even lighter ones! And yes the stock limited wheels will take 285's easy. just the backspacing that is the problem. You can always get spacers...

MillerPKA 05-26-2007 07:13 AM

haven't washed her yet but i pulled into my neighbor's house and snapped a cool looking picture with the cell phone again. my mom says its the type of setting for a jaguar or something, i was like you know why don't you buy me a jag and then you can stop dissing my pics....then she was quiet haha

MillerPKA 05-26-2007 10:33 AM

took the rhino liner back to black with a reflective finish. looking great with the tires/wheels so far.
