2003 4Runner due soon
Hello all
I just visited my local dealer and he told me he would be getting a 2003 4Runner V8 the first week of September. He also confirmed me that the V6 would only be available in November. They still do not have trim details nor pricing info. He had not seen any pictures yet, I should him the pictures that were posted by one of the member here. He liked the blue one but tought that the green/silver was awful. I'm anxiously waiting to testdrive one. My lease is due on my 99 and I'd like to trade soon. |
Keep your 99, the 2003 fugly.

Anyone heard anything about the 2003 Tacoma yet? Are they keeping the last year's look or changing with the 4runner?:baby:
|
Good question. Last rumor I heard was it will stay the same. I don't know how true it is. :dunno:

When we were down at the Show & Shine shindig Saturday, it was brought up that a 3.6 V6 will be coming out for it.
I forget if it's going to be right away, or later. Jim (mytruck) may remember what all was said. I was told by WATTORA president that TRD is already working on the super charger for the bigger V6. It's basicaly the same as the 3.4 I think bored 30 over. And yes, the TRD package will still be available with the rear locker. Man, if I was in the market for a new rig right now, it would be a white TRD Extracab. Oh, chew on this... You know how the duel cab has the shorter box? They are making a full sized bed with the duel cab. Sweet, but the wheel base will be longer than the Extracab model. Not sure how that would do on tight twisty trails. Corey |

The more I look at the taco the better is becomes.. The more I look at the 03 4Runner the uglier it gets.. Whats up with that..

Shane, get ahold of Matt here.
He should have the details on the new Taco. Oh boy, the more I think about it, I do like the longer bed duel cab. Corey |
I can't imagine that they would change the Tacoma's style already, the current one has only been around for 2 years. I bet it will be 2 or 3 more years before any kind of big redesign.
The longer bed sounds cool. Everyone I know that's seen the current one has commented on how useless the short bed must be. However, I really like the looks of the Xtracab over any other package the Tacoma comes in and if I was going to get one, that would be it. |
im looking for a tacoma myself... older one though, they are expensive.. damn things are so good they hold their value forever. i bet the xcab long bed is sweet. i dont mind the short box though... well i hope they dont make the 2003 tacoma as :booty: ugly as the 4runner...

http://4-low.com/temp/longbed-quad-cab.jpg Thanks for the info Corey, I'll have to call him and see what's up. :smokin: ps. my apologies to world_traveler for hijacking this thread, we now return you to your regularly scheduled programming... |
That's kool Shane. Although first thing came to mind was Ford... ...I must be tired. Just came back from the ER

Corey,
I traded a WHITE 98 Taco 4x4 ext cab in on my 4Runner. It was a great truck and I miss it. We had great times in it. Pete |

Plus, you can take out the shiny grille it has now.
Toyota has a stock replacment that is dark gray, and it simply looks rad :D Corey |
:ignore: hehe. I like the Taco and it was a visual comparison...I'd take the Taco over a Ford anyday. The SRunner Taco is a sweet street truck with monchromatic paint and killer looks. Not too practical for much else though.

damn it's gonna have a V8, that will kick ass! When I saw the pictures Corey posted, it look as if it had a Montero Sport rear end and a Sequoia front end. Remember though you guys, never buy the first year model of anything as there are always little bugs to work out. Examples:
2000 Tundras = Too short oil dipstick and premature brake warping 1996 4Runner = Headgasket and Rear drum seal problems 1990 4Runner = V6 Headgasket 1997 Camry = oil sludge problems and probably others I don't remember or know about. Some of these problems lingered on to years afterwards too until they got it right. |
