2002 Tundra 3.4L V6 - Radiator Blew, wont start, what happened???

I was driving down the highway the other day and I heard a loud "bang". I thought I hit a bad pothole or something. About 2 miles later I lost power and the engine shut off. I coasted to the side of the road and found that the top of the radiator was blown apart from one end to the other. When I took the radiator cap off it was in pieces. The engine will turn over and sound like it wants to start but wont. After I had it towed home I took the radiator out, and removed the timing belt cover expecting that the timing belt was broke but it is fine and everything lines up for TDC. Does anyone have experience with this. what do you think it is and how far do I need to tear this engine down???? Any comments will be appreciated, this is my first time on this forum.

Thanks,
Dug

Red face

Figure out why the radiator tank exploded .

Plastic tank just cracked

You could not smell the coolant ??

No big cloud of steam ??

Running enough antifreeze for the temperature??

If you drove it till it shut off from being to hot you might get away with head gaskets

Thanks for the reply Wyoming9.
The Radiator split like it had far too much pressure all the way across the top.
No big cloud of steam that I noticed nor did I smell any coolant until I popped the hood and yes there was some steam coming out from under the hood when I pulled over to the side of the road.
It was 60 degrees out so it wasn't like we were in a deep freeze.

As I am taking this apart I am not able to get the spark plug wire / graphite tube that goes down the spark plug hole and connects to the spark plug out, and therefore not able to pull the spark plug out on #5. This is the strangest thing I've ever seen I have grabbed it with a pliers and am able to rotate it but it will not pull out. All the other plugs and cylinders look dry.
