Hey fellas sorry if this is not the correct section, i have recently aquire a 2001 tacoma crew cab TRD v6 2wd with a bad transmission. I know a transmission from a 96-02 4runner will work physically but is there a specific year I need to look out for because I know electronically some things may be different in newer years on the 4runners.. which year is compatible with my 01 tacoma.. thanks in advance fellas

I'm pretty sure there is no difference throughout 2WD transmissions connections and mounts on the 5vz-fe, but there is different gear ratios, you would be best to match it with the sticker on the door to be sure the gear ratio gives you the best milage and performance.
