1996 tacoma 5vzfe to 2002 4runner 5vzfe
 

I need a new 5vz-fe in my tacoma and i found a good deal onone out of a 2002 4runner what would have to be done to get it runnin what all is differrent between the two

I am doing the same thing NOW. google darn motor swap. mine is from a 01 tundra v6. remove motor. take all wires and good new parts from bad motor, tune up newer motor , easier when out of vehicle, reinstall tuneup motor and start her up. im posting pics as it is my swap journal. stop over and say hello

pretty sure the ignition setup is different 3 coils vs. 6 or a dizzy

could use the short block though

my 96 runner has 3 coils and three plug wires. tundra 01 looks the same.

2002 will have the throttle by wire setup. So you will need to use your original throttle body and ECM, I assume.

other than what thedurk said the motors are identical tundra/tacoma/4runner, its all the same, right down to the plug ins just pull, swap and plug in and turn key...
