02' Ball Joint Recall
My 02' has an open recall for the ball joints.
When should I get them done? Wait until they go bad or just have them changed? Truck has 124K on it now. I don't think they are bad. |
Don't wait, if they fail it can cause a good amount of collateral damage. I've seen fenders, CV axles, brake lines, doors, etc. damage from failed ball joints. It's free and you get an alignment out of the deal. It shouldn't consume more than 2-3 hours of your life as long as you schedule an appointment.

ASAFP. Those fail at highway speeds, you could be toast. Hard to inspect them, too with the way the boots cover them.

Yep, I will have them done next week. They aren't loose now because I just had my alignment done at the dealer and they missed the recall.

As others have said Stir fry, get it done asap! :bigok:
BTW, so far my CEL has yet to come back on...I think the CCV fixed it. |

Guess what my CEL came back on over the weekend...what a headache.
Yes, my BJs were recalled and replaced even before I bought my 4Runner. Granted I didn't know that until a few months later when I found out about the recall. I called a local dealer in town about the recall and they verfied the work had been done on mine. |
Is it just on the 2002 models?
|
Where can I find more information on this, anyone know?
