01 Tacoma dome light, word of advice!

Just replaced the bulb in the dome light in my 01 , Extended cab. What a joke! Maybe it's just me but I broke the old one trying to get it out and then I broke a new one after 20 minutes of fighting to get it back in! Decided to remove the two screws holding the whole unit on and then replaced the bulb and then the mounted it again to my ceiling. That was the easiest way for me. What a pain in the butt!! :bang: Mike

I have no problem removing or reinstalling my dome light. My problem is that noone around seems to have one!

What type and what is the # on your bulb? So far I have had no problem finding dash lights (for the gauges) or the bulb for the dome. Mike

3175 type bulbs?

I'll check with my local parts store and see if they have any. Mike

I am at a loss, I don't have a manual for it, so usually I rely on the markings on the bulb and when that fails I go for the "weeeeelll, it looks the same" decision. I figured the dome light on my 98 is a weird shape, like a tube with metal cones on either end so there couldn't be that many like it, however, I haven't found anything even close yet (I haven't looked that hard so don't make a huge effort on my part yet) mine just went out last week and I have only looked a couple places. A part number would be great though!

They are known as Festoon bulbs.

Go here to find the part numbers for all your bulbs by car model.
