makemusic116's 1993 Pickup Build-Up Thread
Hey all,
About a month ago I parted ways with my beloved 96 Jeep Cherokee due to the cost of fuel and it slowly, but surely, falling apart. After almost a month of searching for a new Jeep I stumbled across something much better...and cheaper! I picked up a super clean 93 Toyota pickup...22re, 5 speed, 4x4, 194k and unbelievably clean and very, very little rust. The only rust on this whole entire truck is minor bubbles no holes anywhere and the frame is excellent. I paid $2500 for the truck. I was a member of JeepForum and never got a chance to document the progress of my Jeep so I want to make a build thread to show you the progress of my Yota. I have a lot of plans, but bear with me it may take me some time! |
The Jeep:

This is the Yota when I bought it:

This is the Yota as of right now:

Plans for the future(in no particular order):
-Removing the decals -A good buff and wax -Tinting the taillights, corner lenses and markers -Window tint -Bedlining rockers and a small portion of the door -Possibly a small lift...I'm undecided. Definitely a bunch more but those are some things I'm going to start with. I will definitely keep you guys posted I hope you enjoy the progress. I am definitely open to comments and suggestions! |
Do you want this to be your official Build-Up thread?
If so, I will move it to the Build-Up section. Fink:devil: |
Yes it definitely will be I was unsure of where to put it. If you could move it I will appreciate it!
|
Moved and re-titled.

The engine bay:
http://i864.photobucket.com/albums/a...Enginebay1.jpg It doesn't get much cleaner than that... |
Not a lot going on as of right now. Trying to figure out an annoying noise coming from the engine bay I am thinking it may be a belt or something the alternator belt looks pretty nasty. I am going to pick up a belt tomorrow at work and put it in and hopefully that fixes it :con:
|
So this is how bad the Alternator belt was:
http://i864.photobucket.com/albums/a...16/AltBelt.jpg ...but still an annoying screech/rattle coming from what sounds like the manifold area. It almost sounds like a heat shield but I cannot locate the exact source of the noise. I did however remove the front inner fender wells and the mudflaps today to prep it for undercoating :) The mudflaps are staying off because my tires rub and they collect too much junk. Hopefully more tomorrow after work! |
Lots of progress today I can cross a few things off the list! Updates below!

And I threw these nice new Monroe Sensa-Trac shocks in while I was at it:
http://i864.photobucket.com/albums/a...116/shocks.jpg |
I started at 2 when I got out of work and didn't stop until like 7 but I got a lot accomplished! I can't believe how easy the rear shocks were to do they were the easiest i've ever done. The exterior is really starting to come together I only have a couple of things left to do mechanically...
-window tint -removing the ugly decals -good buff and wax -undercoat small portion above wheel wells As far as other things go... -find annoying rattle noise -front shocks to match rear -brakes |
Annoying rattle: Is you starter loose?
|
I'm not sure I never thought to check it. Is that common?
|
I had an annoying rattle I couldn't chase down until one day a bolt fell out of my starter! Every few thousand miles I had to throw a socket on it to tighten it up. I guess it's worth checking. You can reach up through the passenger's side wheel well and grab ahold of it. Then just see if it's loose. BTW congrats on getting rid of the Heep
