ok got a little time here to put some more up

hanging the springs..

Im running TG 3" front springs and the back has TG 4" leafs. The front has the lower 2 leafs removed as well. The truck sits perfectly level. Reason is how i designed the rear clip, the suspension sits about 1.5" higher than it would if you were to put these under a stock rear (frame).

Cleaned up the rear axle and getting ready to set the pinion angle and weld the perches in. Because I inboarded 4" on each side you have to grind the perches a bit to get em to sit flat since the axle tube diamater increases as you get closer to the pumpkin.

setting the rear hangars. For max droop you want to set the shackle vertical. Actual "shackle angle" importance is a mostly web fubar. You want the spring to be freely expand (go flat) and under no load fall as far as possible. When the shackle starts inverting as the spring pulls down it begins pulling back up. TG's shackles are in fact to short for the nature of their springs. A 6" shackle works much better (I later junked their shackles for 6" ones, works much better)

getting the axle back under there

progress

installing the shocks, axles in ready to go

ahh.... more time to post the finale.. 130am. LOL

first rollout, right before the first test drive ( i had major fuel delivery problems for 4 days after this... finally resolved it, old filter nipple had broke off in a fuel line and collapsed... ugh 4 days of hell)

moving on

started bending the cage and welding er on

*note I added the rear tailgate at this point. it swings out.

rear cage done

First official rollout
Fuel problems still unresolved... ie the big fuel puddle under the front

The truck had a 2" body lift on it and I cut the sliders off, cut the body lift in half... new hardware so the cab as 1" lift now and the sliders were later reinstalled. Future plans call for installing my second Transfercase and flat belly.

TEST RUN: ELBE HILLS, WA JAN 15 2011

Trailered it down to Elbe for it's first test run.... results? SUCCESS. It's such a blast to wheel now! STABLE, FEEL-ABLE, RESPONSIVE, COMFORTABLE, !STABLE!

Sliders back on and upper shock mounts adjusted for travel as well as longer shackles (6")

swamped, 37s just arent enough =P

found a good stump to figure out how high before a wheel left the ground... tho not as uniform as a RTI ramp... it went beyond 3 ft suspension hit all my pre planning expectations

Nicely done!!! Looks very nice!!! Did you get you flat bed idea from the allpro flat bed kit? Jw I was thinking about just buying the kit instead of bending my own.

Looks great, wish I had the time and money to build one. I already had the truck cut in half once.

Thanks everyone. It was a lot of work all n all about exactly one year in total. Spent 6 months planning and drafting up all kinds of designs started fabbing last summer but time and money set me back till December. Took 10 straight days to do the whole conversion by myself.

No the bed idea wasn't inspired by all pro tho its somewhat similar atleast maybe the roll cage nothing else is like their kit.

Ill be finishing the cage over the cab Probably this summer and next month the winch and bumper will be installed.
