looks like you have a decent parts truck. i have 4.30s in my 89 4runner. Did u notice if it had the blue paint mark on the 3rd member in the rear on the pinion nut ? Thats all ive gone off of for whats in it which doesnt make it positively clear. shoulda counted teeth on ring n pinion when i did the detroit lunchbox in the front.is the tranny good on the parts truck?? Bonus if it is. And you know that tranny will bolt straight up to 3.4 swap.

Ya it is a decent parts truck... and yes the tranny is good As far as your gear question goes... When I pulled off the driveshaft I was expecting to see a color but i did not. The tranny color was pink, but the third member had no color. So I set about to pull out the 3rd to count the teeth. It took me about an hour to get it out, mainly cuz I had to battle the rust. Turns out to be 43 ring teeth and 10 pinion teeth... thus 4.30

As for a 3.4 swap....nahhhh. not 4 me. Too much time and money and frustration that I dont need. I like my 3.0, especially with the 7mge afm swap Mainly my truck is a DD/WW so i cant have it down for large amounts of time.

Thats cool. Ive had a 3.0 truck too and it pissed me off after driving our 97 limited w 3.4 gobbs more power and better fuel mileage. And heavier. But do with what you have and make the best of it.

well we found a cruiser to test drive yesterday that was about 20 minutes away from us. We went and looked at it. Man that thing was beat and abused. I almost felt bad for the shape of that thing. it was a 93 with the 1fz-fe motor with 359,000 miles on it. rust was everywhere, door handles that dont work, seats that are cracked badly.... oil everywhere, inside and out. it was nasty!!! it hadnt been started in 5 months so i had my doubts if it would even run. I supplied a fresh battery and the thing started on the first try!! i was amazed. i did test drive it but didnt buy it. It needed new tires new exhaust, transfer case work and new front drive shaft with new u joint. new seats and about 20 hours or more of scrubbing the inside. plus all the rust repair. The guy didnt have the title or have it cleaned out for us to test drive. So we didnt buy it. He was asking 1800 which in IMHO was about 1100 to much. But we did come to realize that we will soon be buying a land cruiser soon. It is what we need to haul around our 3 kids in space and comfort.

I also got some work done today on the parts truck today. Kickrocz85 came over tody and he looked at my "investment" together we took off the heads and intake to get them to the shop. He works as a mechanic so he will be doing the head work, or having his shop do them. Basically they are getting cleaned, checked and ported/polished.

I knew when I got the truck that the bottom end was messed up, but wow I didnt think it was that bad!! when i got the heads off we rotated the engine by hand. As it turns out only the number 1 and 2 cylinders were actually working!! the other 4 were turned / broken / fubar.... there is a hole in the block in the side of the #6 cylinder... and the guy said he was still driving it till he took the body off... lmao

and now on to the pics:
