92'blue4runner Trail truck/Bogger Buildup thread

Hello from the great white north, as in Kelowna BC.

This is my 1992 3.0 Autotragic Toyota 4runner, which is my first 4x4 vehicle Ive owned so far! I always wanted a awesome reliable 4x4 vehicle and Toyota just stabbed my ideas and got me sold.

I traded my 1998 BMW 328I straight across for this 4runner.

I was more than excited as you can see owning a 4x4 for the first time i went to the local mudbog and sunk it after 10 passes in the shallow mud then the temptation to hit the darker looking stuff got me good.

After playing around with a stock 4runner i wanted more. So i purchased some 33' Tires and slapped them onto the truck with no torsion bar touching or lift.

After a while i wanted to go a little more extreme, Get some bumpers and sliders. A friend that owns Younggun customs hooked me up with some trailgear...Gear lol. Front+Rear bumpers and Truck Sliders to fill up under the body as the 4runner sliders from trailgear are a foot short and leave a bit of the cab exposed. I played around with the truck with all the goodies on it for a while but the Traction area started bugging me and digging me into spots.

So i wanted to step up on traction and I found a deal on 35x16x15 TLS Boggers while i was working in Fort McMurray, and yes i drove the truck like this on 33's from Kelowna BC to Fort Mac, and i'll never do it again.

Yet again Mr Younggun customs stepped in once i showed up at the shop with the tls boggers and he showed me some Custom BeadLocks, I was Sold yet again.

So with the 35' Beadlocked TLS boggers i found myself getting into trouble by going into deep areas and water that no stock 4runner should ever go. I was on the hunt for a snorkel then my friend mentioned his friend had a ARB Safari snorkel for sale, I snagged that as soon as i could.

The truck cleans up real nice and the paint still has a shine in it when i take care of her and give her a nice wash down and get all the dirt and mud off. The snorkel has done wonders for me i am now able to go into the deepest holes i have ever been into and the DEEPEST ive had the 4runner was that water was coming OVER the roof and missing the snorkel by meer inches. No lies, It was zesty.

I needed more lighting for when doing trail riding or wanting to see how deep into the water Ive gotten so while i was working up north i mentioned to my mechanic that i need to get some good fog lights, then he laughed and pointed at a CAT excavator's boom, It clicked, The 349 CAT excavator flood lights on the boom make perfect Fog lamps for the roof and they are H3 Pigtail so 6$(to buy 12v bulbs) later and telling two different operators their lights were burn't out i had lights that's covered 80 feet around me like it was 3 in the afternoon.

I guess i did well for my first 4x4 i was more so leening towards a prerunner set up as to why i kept the IFS.

Truck info:

STOCK 3.0
STOCK automatic 4spd
STOCK Transfer case
4" PRO COMP LIFT KIT
FENDERS TRIMMED 3" BACK
FIREWALL SLEDGE HAMMERED
OPEN DIFFERENTIALS
ARB SAFARI SNORKEL
TRAIL GEAR FRONT BUMPER
TRAIL GEAR REAR BUMPER
TRAIL GEAR SLIDERS(TRUCK SLIDERS FYI)

And that's all for now folks.

Did you regear for your 35's?

Nice rig, looks like you wheel this piss out of it. If you are set on IFS look up the Blazeland LT. Justt gott mine in and its fun.

Red Wagon I left the stock 4.56 gearing in it as it seemed like it had enough power with the 33's but with these new tires and all the grip the 3.slow has started drastically loosing power when I need it most, As soon as i find the Advance adapters bell-housing i saw on my local classified website go back up again i will be dropping the 350sbc from my rx7 into the yota. I Was originally go with a total chaos or a Camburg set up but i might just put in 2" ball-joint spacers and LOWER my torsions a bit to receive the "longer travel"

And i Do wheel the piss out of it It's been to 5 ft airborne to how ever many feet it is to the top of the windshield under water Have to test your first the right way to make sure you did right by choosing a toyota

And another hole 20 ft away from ^^^That one.

Thanks Kingjerd I've been told that Looks small to Mr Younggun customs pick up though!! Big RED!

Awesome dude. If you can think about regearing when you get her locked. 5.29s are a good match with tjose 35's.

Where in BC are you? I'm moving back there after my road trip is done.

5.29's are still a bit too high for 35's and the auto, if the 3.0 is kept.Especially because they are 16" wide boggers=very heavy. 5.71's are a better match. With a 350, 4.88's would probably be a good match. Also if you haven't already added an auxiliary tranny cooler, doing so would be a great upgrade. Keeps the tranny happier longer.

Also, nice Runner. I like what you've done with it so far.... Waiting to see more!
