9164runner's 93 Toyota 4runner bdget build build!!!!!

Ok, so I fairly new to this rock crawling and off road stuff but my buddy got me to pick a future crawler so I chose a really cheap 93 Yota 4runner.

So since its going to be a crawler I have decided to go solid axles up front and keep the rear coils for a nicer ride/smoother ride. So I picked up an 85' 4runner front solid axle and rear leaf springs for a steal of $200 and some 15x10 crawler wheels for $34. Really excited and cant wait to put them on. And I also picked up some LC rear springs for $80 and got to it and got it done.

STOCK(SAGGY REAR END)

SPRINGS IN

Super easy but couldn't afford shocks yet so just using stock ones.

AND THAT COOL ORANGE THING IS MY CUSTOM PANHARD BRACKET (VERY LEGIT):banger:

SO I GOT A 3 INCH LIFT FROM THE LC COILS AND SHOULDN'T SAG ANYMORE, RIDE ISN'T TOO BAD BUT IS A LITTLE BOUNCY BUT SHOULD BE BETTER WHEN I GET NEW SHOCKS!!!!!

HOPEFULLY GET MY TG SAS KIT WITHIN THE NEXT 2 WEEKS OR SO. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT SHOCKS ARE WORTH THE MONEY?

-THANKS
JESSE

E-ROC 03-11-2011 11:49 AM

nice start. bilstien 5125 is a good choice shock or pro comp 3000 if you want to save some $.

9164RUNNER 03-25-2011 06:56 PM

So I ended up using the pro comp es9000 and oh do they ride so much better

9164RUNNER 03-25-2011 07:02 PM

So after saying budget build I couldn't pass up a deal and picked up a Trail Gear SAS kit for cheap, I personally think for 1139.99 shipped to my work place. Saved about 200 bucks for other stuff to buy. I bought it two weeks ago and just opened it up last night and really good quality parts will posts pics later. But with spring here so many projects are in the works will post soon.

9164RUNNER 03-25-2011 09:47 PM

Thanks man, what kit did you end up going with? Nice, cool that someone else rides here too. Yea that's my stunt bike and I have an 08 r6 as my show bike.

Jaino240 03-25-2011 10:17 PM

Nice 'runner man. And that was fast jumping straight into the SAS! haha I like.

Oh and btw is that a 240sx?

9164RUNNER 03-25-2011 10:42 PM

Oh yea I kinda figured why waste money on usless ifs stuff when you can use it towards a SAS kit but that's why they have credit cards. But yea that's one of my other projects that I am aslo working on, on top of the bikes. Nothing too fancy though just my drift machine now, so maybe another drifter?.......

Taxman13 03-26-2011 07:44 AM

I bought the 4"hd springs and 4" rear

Jaino240 03-26-2011 01:41 PM

haha yeah thats true. Yep had three Nissans myself before I had my Yota.

9164RUNNER 04-09-2011 01:04 AM

So some quick updates, my buddy is picking another solid front axle to replace his bent one and is giving me a deal on a complete 3td with a lockright locker and 5.29 gears in it for $300. Its not free but what a deal! Less than the locker itself, so what a score.

Then i also finally tore the axle fully apart, ready to put the seal in and wait for the 3rd from my buddy and slap that bad boy in. Also replace all the seals and bearings which came in my trail gear SAS kit. Whata deal on that too.

My buddy's sweet rig

drew02a 05-29-2011 07:15 AM

I hope you have a torch or a plasma cutter. Grinding all that stuff off the frame sucks the big one. I got a little taste when I replaced my coil link rear suspension and cut all that trash out of there

9164RUNNER 05-29-2011 10:03 PM

Unfortunately I don't and yea it does suck, especially without earplugs which is a must!!!!

rattlewagon 05-31-2011 10:56 AM

Nice work, keep us posted!:bump:

9164RUNNER 05-31-2011 10:37 PM

So one thing I wanted to see what other people did with there SAS swap was instead of using a torch to make the holes for the rear hanger, was there anything else to use to get it done? I dont have a torch to make the hole nor do I want to notch the bottom of the frame. Any suggestions?

drmix 06-01-2011 08:33 PM

Great start! Is that pic of the 35s on your runner stock with just LC's in the back? Looks like a nice stance

9164RUNNER 06-05-2011 06:03 PM

Thanks drmix I also like the stance of just the LC coils really like the low look.

Here it is the finished SAS, took a week to do it and mostly waiting for my buddy to have time to do the welding

Pulled out of my garage with 6in to spare, really surprised!

Definitely makes my 35s look small, but I think I am going to get some 16.5 Hummer double beadlocked rims with some military 37s after i get the truck done with everything else.

Any have those 16.5 hummer wheels and any feedback?
