Long time lurker here! YT has helped me out so many times, I just got a new rig and I figured I should start contributing.
:yotarock: Christmas came early for me this year! :xmas1: After only a couple weeks of anxiously scouring internet classifieds i managed to find a broke down 1988 4x4 with a 22re for only $800! Only 60 miles from home! Same year model, color, and even graphic as my old flatbed. She got hit by a tree this past Easter. :bang: Attachment 210224 More pics to come tomorrow if weather permits, this majestic ass preview can be credited to the PO. She has 222k on the clock. Truck came without a head and missing a few other related parts. PO said he got it back from the shop that way 2-3 years ago. He had put brand new rubber on it just before the motor blew it's top. Cooper A/T's with 90% tread :banger: Only leaks i can see are from the motor, and that's getting tossed, rest of the drivetrain appears solid. So far the deeper i look at this truck, the nicer it looks. My plan is to make this truck into a daily/work horse. Maybe some stronger springs bigger tires and a rear locker down the road, nothing too crazy planned. I am trying to stay on a budget here, I told myself i'd try to stay under 3k before tires. this truck has decent rubber so i'm already off to a good start. I keep saying i payed for a lumber rack and everything underneath it was free! I'll try to keep up with this log as time goes on, i'll probably be a bit unreliable but i'll do my best. |
I have some parts laying around that didn't make it on to my old truck. I also have a dirty pig of a 86 4runner that i will scavenge some parts from. Still undecided if i am going to put the motor from the 4runner in the 88 or if i'm gonna shell out for a quality rebuild. It has healthy compression but i don't know it's history. I will most likely go with a fresh engine.
