Looks good. The oil is from the engine rear main seal there are kits to fix that. Cluth is probably burned too. Make a stop by Marlin Crawler.
Yup; W56
No chance on a '92. the electronics changed in 1989. Also look at the dirt & dirt pattern, He did not swap that engine at all.

@Sky The clutch is actually in good condition. I just saw the rebuild kit on Marlin Crawler and I like it, but is there just a seal kit instead of a full rebuild? However, I might just buy the rebuild kit for good measure. I found it cheaper at several other places though.

Update. Transmission and cradle are now much much MUCH cleaner and my rebuild kit came in today as well. It's amazing how good a clean part can make you feel. I can only imagine how good I feel when I start doing some serious work to the truck. Here are some pictures of the tranny as well as pics of my workplace with some really cool trucks.
That Studebaker has a beautiful aluminum block LS1 with a full Edelbrock conversion kit. My mentor/boss has a beautiful property. 3 acres, personal garage with a lift and thousands of tools, 4 other classic cars, RV and a couple dogs. That's the life right there. Anyway, tomorrow I will be opening the tranny and seeing if I need to replace the bearings. The seals will get replaced no matter what but if the bearings are good than I'll be saving the new ones for when I need them.

Got the tranny opened up and everything looks good. Threw most of it in the steam washer for a little over an hour to get the excess dirt and seal matter off. Gears look good as do the shafts and bearings. Bought two new cv shafts and side view mirrors today so those will be in soon. That should do it for transmission/driveshaft work for the moment. Next I'll be focusing all my attention of the engine.
My parts are on the top. and some on the second tier.
Some dirt accumulated on the gears when I moved the parts to the rack. Also, I'd like to get new bolts and springs (the ones on the right that hold the ball bearings) because these were pretty stripped. Can someone tell me what they are called and where the best place to get them is?

FINALLY got the tranny settled. I had some problems places the snap rings in the right locations but we got it. New gaskets and everything and the tranny shifts very nice. I should be putting it back in the truck soon. I replaced the bad CV joint with some Cardone ones I got off Rock Auto and I will replace the other when I put the tranny in. I will also be buying the Marlin Crawler shift seat because I hear great things. I am debating on buying the LCE street headers and be broke, or use that money to buy several other upgrades. I think the latter is more responsible. Here are some pictures of the CV joint upgrades as well as pictures from an inspection I did last week. It was a pre-purchase inspection on a VERY nice '96 4Runner 22re. The buyer wanted to see if the truck was in good condition . It was. It very much was.

So. Looking like I'm gonna be doing an engine rebuild. Having some mysterious issues with the engine seizing up. Silver lining is that I get to clean up my engine bay and get it looking awesome now, instead of putting tiny upgrades in the engine over a long period of time and still have an ugly engine bay. The bad part is that I have to get rides to my brand new job at Gander Mountain:/
