Anto_No9's 1984 Toyota 4Runner Build-Up Thread

This is how i bought it..

The strip down was scary. more rust then what i expected. but in easy enough places to repair.

The flares have been fiberglassed in the guards. Thought It would look good once it was all painted. I think I go that right. My back up plan was to install bushwhacker flares if I wasn’t happy with how it turned out.

here you go man just use the IMG code..

Looks good , from yellow to what Grey ..

did you make that pulley to take the place of the A/c or did you buy it. You can buy a shorter belt and be ok ..

What tranny and transfer case are you using and what computer is running the engine?

You did alot of work to it looks good.

I was adamant that I wanted to keep the original cross member and tail shafts lengths when fitting the motor, this would eliminate any vibrations, other than the tyres, (My Hilux has massive vibrations because of chopped tailshafts and custom cross member). the sump was custom when I bought the motor so I had no problems with that. However I needed to make a remote oil filter setup coz the filter would of fix my chassis mounts.

Interior has been all repainted. Interior was brown interior with white roof lining..
Now the theme suits the color of the car. Black and dark grey.
As you can tell, I love missile switches, their not just for looks though.. I went with tacho’s inside the car instead of on the bonnet but didn’t want them in front of my face either so I mounted them in front of the passengers face.. Also installed a JVC DVD Player, touch screen system. Installed electric windows, auxiliary power outlet in the back.
All the electrics are wired to the auxiliary battery, the main battery only starts the motor.
Wiring the entire car up took a couple of days. But enjoyed it.

Custom aluminum 3 core triple flow radiator. I had to change the outlets as the 1uzfe has a c&*t of a setup. With Twin 10” thermo fans, and a bonnet scope, I was confident that it would be more that enough to keep it cool. As it turns out, she sits on 90dec all day long.

Exhaust: simple and effective design, dual 2 ½ inch exhaust coming down the sides of the chassis. Lukey mufflers and GM cats, with no balance pipe.

The bulbar: My idea for the bulbar was for it to be a tube bar, that could house a winch, can hold 4 spotlights, have a unique look to it, had to scream TOYOTA. And had to have LED indicators. That’s what I started from.
And ended up with this:

Very nice I do like the color you chose.

Hope you dont mind .

What computer are you using to run the engine with manual tranny?
Is your speedometer working ,if so how did you do it ?
I see the throttle body is of the traction control type , any problems there?
thanks !!

Thanks.. Computer is a Haltech E6X, pretty simple to wiring up, follow the diagram and you cant go wrong. Speedo and tacho are working fine. Tacho runs off the top ignitor. and speedo is the standard cable, because im using a hilux gearbox and transfer case from a 2001 model (W Series), everything worked. my 4runner was a 22re petrol, thats why everything works. i think the deisel's have to swap to a petrol cluster. in terms of drive train, everything is standard, apart from engine, and engine mounts..(Sort of) so i told the engineer lol

No traction control either, motor is a uzs131 crown motor, never came with tration control. plus using a aftermarket computer, u hardly need to use anything. im not even running O2 sensors or air flow meter.

RMA, Where you up to on your build?

hey george,
got your message about the wing windows. the 80s model trucks and 4runners came both ways, mine came stock with no vent windows. if you wish to change them out you can probably find them at any salvage yard. i like the color of your 4runner, well done
