The pickup had always had some idle/ acceleration issues. never terrible just noticeable.

well finally it started to drive me crazy. it would idle down past 500 rpm at stop lights, i couldnt let it warm up in the morning with it dying after sitting for 10 min.
My acceleration was also terrible. between 1/4 throttle and full throttle it would spit and sputter almost to the point of dying. The truck couldnt get out of its own way on the road. And since day one i had a invisible turbo that kicked in at around 3000 rpm.

after going through and making sure ALL my connections were good. i realized that the Genius that owned the truck before me put on a new exhaust and did not install the 02 sensor. no bung no sensor NOTHING.
i went and bought a new sensor for $34.00. My next issue was where to install the sensor since there was no hole. After looking for a good spot and doing some searching on the web. i settled for a spot on my header that was literally made for a sensor. perfect flat spot. perfect shape.
I drilled my holes. tapped two of them put in new studs and it was done.

Started the truck up and it idles great now. very consistent. Acceleration is nice and smooth. no stuttering, no turbo. and it feels like overall the truck has more power which is nice.

Very pleased with the outcome.

more things coming soon.....

placement of O2 Sensor

Idle

Sensor

I went with a 4 inch spring. And the high steer as well
With the 4 inch spring it sits pretty tall, it will settle a little bit but
I may end up removing a spring out of the front and rear just to get it lower to the ground
When I get the tires we will see how everything fits and adjust accordingly.

Finally got it out of the garage. I was worried about height when we were assembling everything. But once we set it down on its own weight. It shrunk a decent amount. Hopefully the springs will settle a tad bit. I can always remove a leaf or so if necessary

Keep in mind it is still on 33's

It's been a while since my last post. But I have been knocking it out one day at a time Finally it's streetable again. I was worried about the rear shackle angle before I put the bed on. But once it went on and I was able to drive it around the street. It settled nicely. I expect a LITTLE more sag once I start flexing them. But I'm happy with how it sits. Those 33"s look tiny under there. The next phase comes soon. Parts are already stacking up at the house.
For gears I went with a Yukon 5.29
For lockers. I went with the Yukon grizzly in front and rear. And I went with a Yukon rebuild kit from Marlin crawler

Long time no post!!!

well there hasnt been a whole bunch of noticable progress on the pickup BUT here are the most recent additions to the build.

Rear axle is built up now with the new grizzly and 5.29's . next is the front. which i still dont have a locker for. Debating on going with the same grizzly or maybe a spartan?? anyone have any experience with spartan?

i started to develop a small exhaust leak, which lead to a completely cracked exhaust. after further inspection you can see in the pictures below that the previous owner has great welding skills....... the new LCE header will be here today!
in all my research people say that you will snap the studs off in the block while removing the header etc. somehow.... mine all came out very easily.

I also was able to get some fresh doors for half doors. 50 bucks no rust no dents !

The LCE header is installed and looking great. It has a nice tone to it. Glad I went with the LCE for sure.

Started on the half doors tonight
this is the cut I settled on

well, since my last post i have been trying to get some parts together. I managed to get a 4runner rear axle with an elocker. I would like to get it re geared and get it in the front housing.
now for the not so good update. the midwest salt bullcrap has been showing signs on my frame. i have a few thin spots.
after seeing these spots i got kinda frustrated with the entire project. should i patch the holes and plate the frame? or is it even worth it??? i want the truck to be able to flex and not have to worry about blowing the frame out...
WHAT SHOULD I DO!!

I would pick up some por-15 until you decide. You should not worry about frame flex, especially in the rear those leafs should give you plenty before the frame is affected. What do you plan on doing for gearing?

yeah idk, maybe im just over thinking it to much. I just dont want to be worrying about the frames structural integrity when im crawling around in the rocks.

and the rear already has 5.29 and a grizzly locker. so ill just do 5.29 with the v6 3rd member. I will have to modify the front housing to make it work but other then that it should be fairly straight forward.

I guess i could just plate the frame and wheel the tits out of it. and if the frame ever blows up just use it as a donor for a new build??!

Plate or truss the frame you should be good.I wouldn't worry about it unless you are going to be jumping it. dual case or 4:70.1?

i like the way you think!!

i will be going dual cases 2.28 front and 4.7 in rear. i passed on a 4.7 complete case a month ago and im kicking myself for not buying it. he only wanted 300 for it at the time. That wouldve helped the price out a little bit

How much was your cold start switch?
I Just welded a truss across the back of mine and made a shock mount out of it. I will post pics on my build thread when I get time.
