Hi terrys87 I seem to have all the vacuum lines correct. I have a big issue now that I saw which is fuel pouring out of the fpr when I try to start it. I must be missing a line or for some reason fuel is going backward I am not sure. I messed with ignition timing and when it was almost fully retarded it spit at me with a bit of smoke out of the intake. This is not looking so good

So In the pic where the fpr is poorly captured. I ran one vacuum line from that fpr to the upper intake mani. What goes from the other one? Fuel is pouring out of that.
In the pic of the two openings, what goes there?

The rubber fuel line should be coming from the rear of the fuel filter. From there it goes to the front of the fuel rail closest to the radiator. Fuel flows thru the rail and to the Fuel Pressure Regulator. From the Regualtor, if I recall the right, the Return Line to the tank is on the passenger inner fender. ( Don't be surprised if the Return line is clogged).

On the Fuel Pressure Regulator, the smaller metal line is a air vacuum line, the larger is for a rubber line that connects the FPR to the metal return line on the fender. I cant really see how it could flow backwards.

Looking at your bottom picture, I see to many lines not hooked up. The EGR pipe that connects to the back of the plenum is a big leak. I will be back in about 20 minutes do take care of a task and will see if I can find some pictures in one of my threads that could help with vac lines.

oh so the fuel that is coming out of there is supposed to ? i will look for that return hose now, lol, its an awful lot of fuel that comes out of there
ill look around for some more diagrams and what not. i hate vacuum systems. lol

Below where I put copied is from one of my threads. The picture below is the fuel line that should be on the FPR. I will look for a picture where this line should hook to. Be back in a moment.

When I want to know if the fuel pump is flowing like it should, this is the hose I pull off and watch and see how fast it fill up a quart jar. It will fill one in about 30 seconds or so for a rough guess. Also the metal line on the cab that this hose hooks up to is the return line to the tank. I have been finding alot of the lines clogged and the trucks still run great. I use an air hose to see if it is clear and with the gas cap off you will hear the tank bubble. On my Runner builds, I show what the "J" lines that are normally clogged up as well.

The rubber line in my hand in the above picture should go to this metal line on the inner fender. What fuel that is not used by the injectors is returned to the tank. Fuel is constantly moving from the tank to the injectors and back to the tank in a circle.

I just kinda capped off most of the vacuum lines I deemed unnecessary but apparently they are lol. With the egr thing in and vacuum lines capped does it still present an issue? I plan on ordering block off plates when I can. In next couple weeks hopefully.
I can't find that return line but my garage is horribly lit at night I'll just have to re tackle this in the morning. I appreciate your help terrys87 and I'll go back over this stuff in the morning and let you know how it goes. I think I've wasted about a gallon of gas on my garage floor tonight lol

No problem. These trucks do not like vacuum leaks and with the lines mixed up, it will cause a lot of problems. Especially the vacuum lines that go from the very back VSV to the FPR.

This is a reference picture for me. I have a tough time trying to remeber how all of the vacuum lines go back on. I have diagrams and the label on the hood, but that can still be a little confusing on reading some of them as the black lines on the diagrams or the picture on the hood.

Here is how I pulled the EGR Modulator off. I am not 100% sure that these are correct. When I find out I will edit this page and show it as correct. I want to get some pictures that even a Terry could understand.


The Modulator can get a little dusty. The black cap just pops off and pay attention to how the filter element comes apart and go easy on it as the foam can seperate in layers. Use a screw driver to lift the edge out, ( a fish hook works too if you are not ambitious enough to get a screw driver) and I used a air hose to blow the dust out.

Also I had the 2 center lines of the metal rail hoses clogged. I used some WD 40 to soften the clog and after letting it soak about 30 minutes I was able to clear the clog out of the metal lines. The rubber hoses were not clogged. Checking all of the items in a system is easily over looked as well. Just trying to cover all of my bases while I got it apart.

can anyone point me to a diagram that shows where every line goes for my year? i feel like since its the first year of the efi there isnt an accurate pic for every hose. coolant, fuel and vacuum
and i can not find the return line for the fuel pressure regulator

definitely know its fuel issue. its not getting fuel. sprayed brake clean in there and it idles and revs sorta like it should. im sure ignition timing isnt set right yer but because it wont idle i cant set it . lol

If you are getting fuel to the rail and with the hose off with fuel on the floor like mentioned earlier, it is getting fuel. An issue I have ran into is the crimps in the harness to the injectors will pass a resistance check but not allow the injectors to fire. Here is a thread>>> https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...t-22re-270857/ that will tell you if the computer is sending the signal to the injectors. If the LED lights up, it is in the harness that can keep the injectors from firing.

Has the truck ever ran before since you have had it?

The fuel line comes off of the frame. From there it goes to the fuel filter and the hose from the frame should connect to the front of the fuel filter closest to the radiator. Fuel flows thru the filter and the hose comes off the back of the fuel filter closet to the firewall. From there it goes up to the fuel rail.

Off of the fuel rail back at the fire wall, the fuel line will go to the metal line running back to the tank.

Yeah it ran great about 3 months ago. But i feel dumb now. I ready through some other threads and found I don't have the harness grounded to the intake manifold. I will be going over all my grounds and making sure it's all good tonight lol.

Put some 31s on her yesterday, and installed my RadioShack cb setup. I want to upgrade to like a kenwood radio soon, I think they're called transceivers, that way when I work the best in the desert vegas to reno race I can have my own radio to tune in on their channel and such! But they are pricy.
I changed the wheel color to black and I like how it goes with the factory tan paint. I'm gonna see if my buddy can put a good polish on the paint to bring it back to life a little bit. Hoping to do a header soon, and 2 1/4 straight pipe with a flowmaster 40 muffler soon. Probably won't be lifting it for a while until I get a daily driver lol.
