He hee. Sounds familiar. Toyotas are long lasting but at some point they wear out...there are still some first gens going fairly strong with some really high miles but I think on a lot of them, it's just time. Before you know it you'll have the entire thing rebuilt, and there's nothing wrong with that (other than what happens to your wallet). I'm definitely resigned to the fact that before long I will have replaced everything. At this point though, I'm actually pretty close! Rebuilt carb should be here this week. That leaves electrical, alternator, t-case and front & rear diffs...and that's about it!

I'm glad you're finally getting to drive it again, I'm interested to see how it drives with the rebuilt carb. Don't forget to check all the emissions stuff too. It gets all plugged up after so many years.

Wow, you've really got some vision with this thing. It's really beat to hell, huh? Can't wait to see what it looks like when it's put back together (I was going to say done but these things are never done).

LOL ya....this truck was abused for the 409,000 k's it has....within the next few paydays i am ordering new fenders, hood, lower valance bumber ends and then i am buying a 2wd toyota pickup its a 1980....i am going to use that thing for the interior, the headlights, headlights doors/bezals, grill and some whiring stuff maybe the front windshield, the ONLY rust on the 2wd is the frame and a few spots here and there on the box

Nice. It'll be really cool to get new fenders & stuff on there. Pretty much the only body peice I really need is a tailgate.

hey thanks, the truck will be used for daily driving and a weekend warrior in the mud with friends........that automotive asphault is like tar....goes on REALLY thick and drys to almost like rubber, it stinks and the only way to get it off your skin is gasoline....but it should stop any further rust

i am restoring my truck here in school......if i can actually get this truck on the road i will get almost 100 bucks from bets......NO body in my class thinks i will get it on the road so when i do i get gas money

You can resize the photos. 800x600 is a good size. Looking good!

I JUST shipped mine out last weekend. Whole grill/headlight/bracket set up. They're one of those things, in my experience, that you could run into tomorrow...or not for a few months. Seems like a good junkyard thing though.

Nice work. You build all sorts of hooks & tie-downs & whatever into that thing, too.
