About the only thing I have done to the Yota was put rock lights on. I love the way they look on the truck.

Truck looks looks great. I picked up an 82 up here in alaska that i plan to build up just about in the same fashion as what you are doing.

HTF do you have TWO first gens with beds that nice? can i have one? DX
i keep scrounging CL for someone with a bed (or even salvageable pieces i could slice up and re-weld) that's in any type of usable condition. but everyone either has one thats WAAAAAY past saving or they want far more money than it's worth.

but on a lighter note, i did finally get around to starting my front axle rebuild.
unfortunately only the one pic will upload. :/

I haven't been on recently but have some big plans for the 82 coming up. I have tried out the iroks since I got them and I love them. They do awesome in the snow and mud.

Since I updated this last I have put spacers on to enhance the looks and also to help with the tires rubbing when I turn. They are 1 1/2 inch spacers. Here are some pics with the spacers on

Doesn't look like much in the first picture but have cleaned it up since then. I have removed all of the emission stuff, replaced some of the seals, removed any wiring I won't be needing and put a new header on it. It is ready to go in now and will most likely be sitting in my truck tomorrow.

Kinda hate to see the 22r go.. For what I put it through, it would never let me down! But can't wait to have fuel injection, the extra hp and the 20 year difference in technology!

wish I could find another clean first gen, wish I would have kept the decent one I had! delete the balance shafts on the 2rz, heard they can be a paint

That's why I wanted to get a 2rz over a 3rz. Really the only difference between them is that the 3rz has balancing shafts and the 2rz doesn't.

I took the dash out today. Want to clean all the old wiring up before I do all the new wiring and also fix a couple things up that are old and falling apart. Didn't take very long to get it out either which was really nice.

Finally got around to putting the wiring harness in that I had made. The harness was really easy to put it because everything was labeled for me. Also liked the harness because everything is tucked away.

The side of the harness that went back to the motor, I ran through the firewall and put a gusset around so it looks like its supposed to be there.

I had to re do my clutch and gas lines so I used the old lines and bent them to work for the new motor. My gas lines are down my driver side frame rail and come out right where they are on the motor. I didn't get a picture with the gas lines but here is one of my new clutch line. My clutch line was cut shorter and bent down to the driver side.

Finally got the motor dropped in as well. It didn't want to go on the transmission at first but was able to get it on after a couple tries.

wow man shes a beaut!! wish I had that know how time and a place do that to mine, I will eventually. I bought my 83 from a older coworker who bought it in the summer of 82 brand new off the lot and drove it 20+yrs as a daily driver. I had to beg for it but he let me buy it...So I just had the front axle rebuilt and all suspension components replaced with a 4"pro comp suspension lift + to new rear leafs, Had a Spartan auto locker put in the rear axle then 33x10.5x15 BFG km2s. I really need to take it apart and clean up the frame and replace the hangers like yours, ive never seen trusses put on the axle like that but I believe I can do it as im a welder, are they known to snap?Name:  20140114_131437.jpg

The Toyota axles are pretty tough when they are stock. The truss is on the axle to strengthen it so it doesn't bend as easy. You just have to make sure when you weld it on you don't lay a bead across it all at once, as it will bend the axle. You have to spot weld it on until the whole truss is finished.
