nice job on the odometer work, sorta scary with that many small parts. The wire trick is gonna get filed away in case I ever need to do it.

I did the LED's in my old 81, it was a huge plus. I need to convert the 4Runner.

I never resolved that issue. The brakes are good enough to drive it around but I am going to be ordering that bracket you mentioned from Low Range within the next few days and doing my front rotors and pads while i am at it. I will make sure to keep you posted on my results.

sorry NYHumpinUtah but no update on my brakes yet. I never realized that changing the front brakes wasn't as easy as i thought. No wonder everyone says to do the front brakes while you are rebuilding the knuckles lol. But I have been driving the truck around because the brakes seem to be doing just fine from what i can tell. I even did a few hard slams on the brakes to make sure it would actually stop and not roll and it did pretty good.

Was curious if anyone may have an original sr5 shift knob off an 83 or similar they may be able to sale me? I am looking for a black one and I believe this is what they look like (with the red R?). Hoping to get one in decent condition (at least not cracked like this one)

Humm, Pretty good????
Abraham, dude, take the time and make sure your brakes are 100% After all the work you put into your truck do you really want to take a chance on them NOT working! just one time! That's all it takes is one time they fail and all your work is puff! I'm just afraid for ya, to nice a truck to go see puff.I might sound like an old lady, but fix the brakes!

Maybe "pretty good" wasn't the best word to use. But Yes, I completely agree with you NYH on getting the brakes done RIGHT. I would hate to ruin the truck as you said for being impatient. I think i should start by just using string as you mentioned in the past to hold the LSPV rod up and see if that makes a difference. If not I will definitely need to take it in to get looked at because it is possible my rear drum brakes are not set correctly.

For those who do not follow me on Instagram, look at what I scored on at the Pick a part yesterday. I have been trying to get a center console for the longest time ever.

Great find, I also am having good luck at my salvage yards! A little soap and water and they look good to go. And after you put all the work in the speedo. now you're going to change it out and kick it to the curb.....................

I don't plan on using the speedo but I just couldn't leave it behind haha. Will most likely try to sale it along with the oil and voltage gauges to try and get my money back.

What part number Bilsteins did you use on the front of your truck? For the 5100 series shocks, I was told by a 4wd shop to use 24-185684 for the fronts and 33-186542 for the rear shocks. The front shocks I was referred to seem too tall for my 81 pickup with a 2” lift. The current tires on your truck, are they 31” BFG Mud T/As? If so they look great, I have 33” BFG myself but look to large on the 1st gen truck and thinking I need sell them and go to 31” BFGs.

I purchased the lspv bracket from low range and did some testing the other day. The brakes seem to be stopping more evenly now where before I feel like the rears were locking up. However, I need someone there to help determine if its my front or rear brakes that lock up first or together.

still have not found an original shift knob, but someone did share a link with me that sold shift knobs for the FJ60 and FJ40. I ended up buying just the cap from them and had to trim it down quite a bit to get it to fit on the shift knob that I currently have. I'm pretty happy with how it came out .

Here's the link if you guys are interested in doing the same.
