1983 Griffith trailblazer.
 

Well I traded my subaru for a griffith trailblazer the other day.
It is an 1983, and totally desmogged. I gave my 83' 2WD to my nephew recently.
So I was on the search for another 1st gen., but 4X4 this time.
I don't have any pics right now but when it gets back from the valve job I will clean it up and get some pics.
I was wondering if anybody knows what kind of seats could bolt into where the back seats go? I was thinking early 4 runners or jeeps. Anyhow, just thought I would pop in and get a thread going about it.

If you're lucky, you may be able to find some seats from a Trekker or Trailblazer. If not, a little fabrication would make the 1st gen 4Runner seats fit.

next time i am close to it i will get some pics. it does have the seat belts just no seat in the back. the front seats are frome a newer toyota.

I also have a 1983 Trailblazer. Mine has the original seats and my back folding seat is original and nice. I'd be glad to shoot you some pics of the back seat. I just got done replacing some sheet metal in the floor and spraying raptor liner. I'm also about to add a Tuffy console.

Yeah I would love to see what came in the truck. Can you get a shot of the mounting frame (where it bolts to the floor.) for me?

For anybody wondering what the stock seats look like this is a couple pics mtrdud sent me. :)
Mine has seats from like a 92 single cab truck. lol The bench that is up front in mine is in bad shape anyhow. So I guess I will look for some buckets, and and a bench for the back. Now that I see these pics. I realize old 4runners I think won't work. there seats where in front of the wheel wells right? These back seats look a lot like stock jeep seats from the early 80's. Even the mounting bars.

Looks sorta like mine. I'm assuming yours has been repainted? Do you know the original color?
Also, I just added a Tuffy 8" stereo console. The 8" fits great in a 1st generation btw.
Can you post up a couple of pics of your rear hatch struts? I have some but I don't know how they came after the conversion.

YJ rear seats are fairly narrow, and might fit in.
If you want to spend some serious coin, the Bestop tuck-and-tumble Heep seats might fit with a little modification.

I ended up getting a set of seats out of a 2002 jeep wrangler Sahara. Buckets up front and a bench for back. :) The buckets up front had to have to mounting frames removed but the sliders are still on. I haven't bolted them down yet.
My truck doesn't have struts on the rear hatch. That is something I have to add as well. probably a new piece of Plexiglas as well. I just plan to get the weakest ones I can find because there isn't much weight there, and then use some 2 ton epoxy to stick them too the plexi.
I do believe it was painted, I think it was tan, because the inside plastic pieces to cover the roll bars are tan. But who ever painted it painted all of it, there is no sign of original paint, unless this was it. Which I am fairly sure it isn't. Sorry i can't help with the strut placement. :(

Well I got the bell housing bolts on and the starter, as well as the motor mounts yesterday. Next step is to remove the oil pan and install the timing chain and cover. :) Getting there. I think I am missing a couple brackets that go between the motor and the trans. :( I'm junk yard bound I guess.

This trailblazer looks like one that was for sale in Portland either last summer or sommer of 2012.
Almost picked it up.
Not sure if you have picked up your rear glass, if not I would recommend lexan or makrolan over plexiglass.
Plexiglass tends to fade quick and crack easily. I learned that when I first got my trekker.

Yeah I was planning on getting that rear glass way down the road Thanks for the idea though. I was kinda' shying away from plexi for those reasons anyhow so at least I don't have too do that research now.

Okay yesterday I got out there got that pan dropped and the lower end looks great and everything is new in there. :)
Scrapped off all the gasket maker on the timing chain cover and block surface for the timing chain cover.
Added the chain and suspended it, and I am not totally sure but I think the mechanic put the cover on after I left.
Picked up a new manual fuel pump, and removed the electric one.
I think one more good day and I could have first fire up of the engine. :)

We'll got the timing chain cover on. As well as the oil pan. Also water and oil pump. Pully is on some of the way. It's ready for the head. Took out a couple thing like the after market fuel pump. And some of the left over smog stuff. I think it is ready for the head. Here is a pic of the engine bay. look at that nifty wooden chain holder my mechanic made. found out i need a clutch slave cylinder.

perty close. turns out I got the wrong fuel pump, so I need that, also the battery needs to go in and the carb. A couple hose's and fluids and it should be up and going. :) Getting the clutch slave in was stupidly hard. :( I replaced one of those on my old 83 and it was way hard as well. I think the hard lines where not bent the way they where superposed too be. Anyhow here is the progress shot.

Just fluids, oil filter, fuel lines and inline fuel filter and we should be up and going. :) probably tomorrow morning sometimes.
