Celica?

Celica?
I'm looking at a 1985 Celica on Craigslist. It's rear-wheel drive with a 22RE, just like my truck. Does anyone have experience with or opinions about these cars?
After I purchased my 1987 4Runner, I was disappointed to discover that this exact rig was basically NLA at junk yards in the Pacific Northwest. Sourcing mechanical parts has been easy but interior parts and such have been expensively sourced from eBay. How easy/cheap is it to get parts for these cars?
Thanks for any input.

My Mom had the 84 Celica GTS and it was a great car to drive and easy to work on. Not sure if values of these are going up. I have seen some rare convertible versions listed for what I'd consider to be good prices lately, somewhere around $3.5k with ~ 150k miles. Same 22RE as the trucks and 4Runners. No turbos though. And if you wanted 6 cyl you had to go with the Supra. You basically cannot go wrong with an 80's Toyota.
Sorry, I can't comment on things like interior parts availability.

I have used the Celica transmission in two wheel drive pick ups in the past. They interchange with the pick ups with no trouble at all. I prefer to use the pick up shifter in the Celica transmission but you can use the Celica transmission shifter. I am sure the transmissions would swap the other way around.
As far as parts, your location in probably the biggest factor. There are a few Celicas in my area. If you are in the rust belt, probably not going to find any.
