I personally own 2 BMW motorcycles. A 92 K75s(original owner) and a 05 R1100s Replika. Great bikes! Both bikes have their niches. It depends what you want to do with it.

I'm looking to go trail riding, dirt road kind of stuff. I had an R100S a few years back, '89 to be exact. Great bike, but I had to ride it often to keep the battery from dying. Maybe had a slow trickle drain somewhere. My cousin has the bike down South where it can be ridden year round. I've done alot of Off-road on 125 and 250cc bikes and was wondering how a heavier bike handles in the dirt.

Go with something bigger than a 750 or 800 IMO. U will want more power after a few weeks. I'd go with a 1100 vstar good power nd u won't wanna upgrade within the first year. Mine is for sale lol 04 1600 marauder with extras 9k want 5 for it. Good luck on finding a bike they are a blast

I just picked up a 70-76 Yamaha CS3 or CR200 or RD200. I could upload a picture later, but it was free. And my first experience with motorcycles. Anybody know where I could get a gas tank for it on the cheap?

I've been riding an '06 SV650S for the last 4 years and I love it. Even taken it to Sturgis and back a couple times. These motors are bulletproof, a friend of my dads builds race bikes and the SV's will go for 3-4 seasons on the same motor, you're lucky to get 1 1//2 - 2 out of a 600-1000 I-4 (although they're much faster). If the motor in mine ever ever dies I'll probably get a V-Strom. The BMW F800GS and Triumph Tiger 800 are possible contenders too, I guess it depends on how much money I have .

I have two BMW R-bikes (aka Airheads): a 1972 R60/5 and a 1982 R100 (nekkid), Both are as reliabe as they can get (and go around the world as is anytime you want), but they do require regular maintenance. I rebuilt a couple Airheads, restored a couple and build a Dual Sport custom R100G/S from scratch:
I have considered in the past a 1984/1985 Honda Nighthawk "S" CB750SC (Canadian) or CB700SC (US version). Inline-4 84hp engine with hydraulic valve lifters and other goodies. A bike with reasonable horsepower and minimal maintenance. Sexy Bikini fairing ... all in all good choice if you liker 80's bike designs.

Nice lookin' bikes guys, I love that BMW! Guess I may as well show mine off too
This is when I got it. It was laid down and considered totaled. Needed a new fairing, tires, radiator, chain/sprockets, and a few other small things like grips and blinkers.
Here she is all put back together, and with some brand new pipes!
And all loaded up for her first trip to Sturgis.
It's been a great bike, I've put around 30K miles on it with no problems and could probably put another 100K on it before it does have any. Gotta love Japanese engineering .
