Weekend MTB Repair
 

This past weekend i decided to repair a mountain bike i was given a year back (pre-used). I wanted to keep costs minimal (im broke lol) so my only focus was getting it ride-able.

Here's what i started with:

This is what i did to the bike:
New Chain ($14.99)
New Rear Derailleur Cable ($5.99)
New Grips ($9.99)
Cleaned And Adjusted Gears, Derailleurs, And Crank (Brake Cleaner)
Lubed Gears, Derailleurs, And Crank (P1 Chain Lube And WD-40)
New Headset Tightening Bolt (Donated By My Brother)
Inflated Tires

Total Cost: $31 And A Weekend

not bad for being given to you, but that thing looks like it has had an abused past.

WAY nice bike for $31. Looks to be in great shape now, IMO.

I like they way that frame's painted too. Looks like crap. I'm not being sarcastic neither. I spent a good amount of time roughing my frame up to look that bad. Why you ask? Too many bikes stolen. Thieves don't want her now. She's ugly as sin, and they can't tell if it's a Huffy or not(all brand identifying markings deleted).

BTW, those wheel bearings need repacked. How do I know? Because they always do, if it's been ridden AT ALL. Better get to it ASAP. Don't forget your cassette/lockring tool.

it was ridden hard and put away wet, nice bicycle anyway, as for the paint, i don't care what it looks like unless it works (I DO Care How Toyota's Look Though) i'll eventually paint it though.

i'll be repacking the wheel bearings soon as well, but for now they feel fine
